Well the best restaurants in Des Moines and extremely excellent salad bar fast service best ribs I've had in a long time I love that place, for me and my grandmother with the salad bar it was like $40

Based on decor alone this place gets 4 stars! Food and drinks are fantastic! The Salad bar reminds me of the restaurants in the 80s (why aren't these a thing anymore?!). The salad bar is DELICIOUS!! Then add in the bread and butter for presentation! Fantastic! I wanted to get the Filet but decided on the Sirloin and baked potato! :)))

Great food at decent price. Good service. Comfortable booths. Great salad bar. Excellent food, from burgers to prime rib.

Worth the wait! If you're willing to wait, this is a wonderful restaurant to go to. The salad bar has nearly any fixing you could think of, as well as fruit and dessert salads. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and decently spaced. The drinks were lovely. I had the seafood lasagna and my partner had a 16oz steak. Both dishes came out hot, and perfectly made. The only downside is that it can be a bit busy, and your server can be a bit absent but it is definitely worth it!

Been here many times over the years and always have had a great dinner experience. The salad bar is packed full with a great variety. Generally I have either a rib eye or a new york strip, always amazing. Excellent stuffed pork chop was delicious. Wonderful wine and drink selections.

One of my favorite restaurants in Des Moines, both their salad bar and prime rib is unbeatable in my opinion. Been coming here since I moved to the area in 06' and have yet to be disappointed. I'm here often on Mondays for their prime rib special. I also love and appreciate their lunch goes till 4 since I usually work nights.

We are in town for a soccer event and wanted to try something local and the Speakeasy popped up and it did not disappoint. The service was great. The bartenders and servers were on top of everything and really friendly. I had the prime rib and shrimp with a side of spaghetti? Who does this? The Chicago Speakeasy does and it tasted great. My son had a ribeye cooked perfectly medium and to top it all off cheesecake for dessert. Did I mention that all of our meals came with an old school all you can eat salad bar.

We have been coming here for over 45 years. It is my husband's favorite place in all of the world to eat (and we've ate most of the world, believe me). So when his 80th birthday was coming I planned on having a small surprise party for him there (roughly 10 people). As it got closer to the time of the party, some expressed concern about what safety measures they may have for COVID Variant, which is currently on the upswing in Des Moines. When I ask the matron if they kept a 6 foot distance between tables in their party room, she rudely answered "Absolutely NOT!" like I'd just ask her to give us our food for free. I really wanted to make my husband's birthday a great one, so I ask if I could just rent the whole party room for an hour...again "ABSOLUTELY NOT". No compromise. After discussing it with the other members of the group, we decided to cancel. I was hurt because I wanted it to be special, because you only turn 80 once, but as a friend replied, yes, but he'll only turn 81 once too, so surprise him then. And that is just what I'll do, but you can be sure, it will not be at Chicago Speakeasy.

We stopped in on a Friday night.. no reso and we're told about a 20 min wait. We grabbed a seat in the bar area and noticed they had a few larger groups and plenty of empty tables so were likely managing the kitchen. We waiting maybe 10 minutes at most before our name was called. Drinks and food were fabulous and server was amazing, I wish I would've caught her name. We both indulged in the salad bar to start. It was nice and clean along with fully stocked. For the main course I chose the Salmon with servers choice between garlic mash potatoes or fettuccine Alfredo. She was so sweet and said she loves the fettuccine Alfredo but really didn't want to pick for me because that was an up charge. I said bring it on, I appreciate the thought but I want the delicious food tonight. And that it was!! Everything was perfection. My husband had the prime rib.. he loved it and said it was cooked perfectly! When you have the opportunity the Speakeasy is perfect for date night or any night for that matter!

Service was fast and friendly. Food was good. Best salad bar in town is my opinion. Clean. Employee's constantly cleaning and filling salad bar. Great place for a nice sit down meal. The mini loaf bread is awesome. Love this place! Highly recommend.

The decor is nice. The parking lot is unique. The prime rib was okay. Mine was cooked correctly but was lacking when it came to seasoning. The salad bar is small and has the standard fare. The prices seem reasonable for the atmosphere and quality of the food. The drinks from the bar were pricy but they didn't skimp on the alcohol.
