Food is so on par. I love the egg rolls, Lo mein, and mongolian beef. Egg drop soup and hot and sour soup is also really good. The wait staff is very friendly amd helpful.. and i love the atmosphere bc im very low key. Its not snobby. They even allow outside beverages. I love my diet pepsi so bring it with and they are dine with that. And the prices are amazing to get a lunch is $14 with soup and egg roll and either fried or white rice with entree.

On 12/4/25 at 6:50 pm, I picked up a meal I had ordered totaling $17, but when I checked my bank account the following day, they had actually charged me $19. I thought it was odd when the cashier wadded up the receipt and threw it away without asking if I wanted it. But now I know what the young man was up to....stealing from his employers' customers! I've been a customer of China Chef for years, but now that I know they hire theives, I most certainly won't be back. So If you read this review, and are still foolish enough to patronize this business, make sure you don't let them throw away your receipt, unless you like shady/criminal business practices (and run of the mill Chinese food), then you'll love this place!! ☮️
Egg rolls , soup and crab Rangoon were good. Empress chicken was over cooked and tough. Couldn’t eat it.
There’s better Chinese food spots out there. Won’t be back.

I have been coming here for almost 20 years.. Just found out they deliver to my office downtown.. Made my day.. The soup is the best in town and believe I have tried to find a replacement there isn't.. My usual is beef and snow peas but today is orange beef is blew my mind... Thanks for taking my order early and getting here so quickly when you open.. Would highly recommend this place to anyone..

Went to China Chef on SW 9th for the first time and we loved it. We had crab rangoons, potstickers, egg rolls, and sesame chicken and it was all delicious and very reasonably priced. The service was wonderful! It's a small, family-owned business. Get out there and support them!

I tried China chef for the first time today, and I was thoroughly impressed. I got delivery and paid with card over the phone, it was quick and easy. They estimated a 45 minute wait time but I got the food delivered to my door in almost exactly 20 minutes. I normally have issues with doordashers and uber drivers finding my apartment but they had no issue finding where I live. The delivery driver was very polite and professional.
I ordered the lunch special orange chicken plate, rangoons, and egg rolls. The food was still hot when I got it, and the egg rolls and rangoons still crisp. They gave me plenty of sweet and sour sauce, and portion sizes for all items were very generous.
The orange chicken was good, very saucy and a good kick to the orange sauce. I will add that it was actually brought to me hot enough to where I had to let it cool down for a bit (which is a positive).
The rangoons were great, not too sweet, crisp, and with a good amount of filling. They’re large too, not like the small Rangoons you get from Tsing Tsao or Panda Express.
The eggrolls were VERY good, probably the best part of the meal. Crispy, and one of the best eggrolls I’ve had. The best balance between veggies and meat.
Overall good pricing too, I paid less than I would on DoorDash for Chinese food— and got more food while paying less.
So I’m happy, my husband ate his whole plate in less than 5 minutes and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Okay, I’ve been coming to China Chef 25 years and the food has stayed EXACTLY THE SAME. Don’t let the exterior of the building fool you, the food is hot, fresh, and high quality.
It’s a family-run restaurant. The son has taken over from his parents and the grandson was our server. The dining room just re-opened. Why aren’t you there yet?

Because of positive reviews I decided to give China Chef a try.
NEVER AGAIN! It’s easy to have a problem in a restaurant, get upset, and write a negative review. This is not the place I’m coming from. I’m writing this to protect the public.
I looked at the menu online and had decided on my to-go order before arriving. (Szechuwan Prawns). It was nothing like the description on the menu. The prawns are battered and fried, and are saturated, swimming in a sauce that soaks into the batter and ruins the prawns. Right after ordering, I noticed a table in the corner of the dining area, beside the open drive thru window set up with office supplies like telephones, pens etc, where there was an open bowl of eggroll filling, a pile of egg roll wrappers and a pile of rolled eggrolls and two people making the eggrolls without gloves RIGHT THERE ON THE OFFICE TABLE!
I should have cancelled my order right then and there. Instead I got home to find the Prawns were what they were. There was also two eggrolls in the bag which I had NO intention of eating. And the egg drop soup was green. Literally green. Food that isn’t green shouldn’t be green unless there’s something seriously wrong with it.
I decided to pack up everything, take it back and demand a refund.
At the restaurant I was asked what was wrong. I explained everything. The place is small so every customer was able to overhear what was going on.
The transaction was voided so hopefully I won’t see it appear on my card statement.
As I went out the door I overheard the man at the counter making derogatory comments about me to other customers. I went to my car and was confronted outside by the man at the counter. He told me he “felt like I was inappropriate.” For telling the truth? I responded. He then makes excuses such as, it’s not wrong to wrap eggrolls in that area because it is their work area. However, it’s obviously office space. And that the menu online is not their menu, it’s just what some random people think the menu is like. However, the online menu I saw was a photo of their exact menu. He had no response for the green egg drop soup. He kept trying to make excuses but I said “I’m done here” and left.
There are so many positive reviews about China Chef and I don’t understand why unless they are paid and/or family and friends are writing them.

The menu online price is completely different than at the place. I ordered orange chicken— menu says $15 dated June2025. However cashier says price is $18 plus tax and they have raised their price. An hour later I called in from a different number and was told the price was $17. CLEARLY, the place is changing prices based on whatever they want to charge. Dishonest.

Floor was sticky, food was good.
Ordered for delivery. Every time I have ordered, from the service, the delivery, the quality of the food, it's excellent and wonderful.
