China Place Restaurant

I am leaving this review as a public health concern. I have eaten here three times, and every time, I feel sick after eating their rice. I thought it was me, it is not me. Something ain't right there.

It's fantastic food and friendly people. This is easily my favorite Chinese food in Des Moines!

Service was pleasant but food not!! Me and my 2 children left all of our food on table
Orange chicken could possibly break a tooth with burt particles from bottom of pan all over food. I moved on to the rice...nope burnt taste and one scoop in and I seen a black hair. 2 min later walks out the cook with long hair.
Disappointed.

I live in the neighborhood and regularly order take out from here. I only have positive things to say about China Place:
-never had a single issue out of 3-4 dozen orders
-order always done on time or early
-service is quick & polite
-food is really good & affordable

For great prices, you get a quality meal. I’ve been a customer since I moved here years ago and if I move to another neighborhood in the metro, I’ll still be a customer because this is an unassuming local gem.

The food here was absolutely terrible. Straight basura. Don’t even waste your time eating here. The rice tasted like the burnt stuff at the bottom of a pan. And the fried chicken don’t even get me started. They were so small and fried terribly. No seasonings at all. Just terrible. Don’t waste your time please…. Or money.

Called half an hour before close an our food was delivered right before close but we had a simple confusion, and they made a 2nd delivery after they had closed just to get us our food. Awesome service and awesome food!!!

No fooling food. Reasonable prices. Low drama.I got a menu that didn't have prices updated so my dinner ended up being 30% more than I expected. But even then, not unreasonable.Waitress (manager) was very very busy. They do far more takeout than dine in, so its sometimes hard to tell what she's working on when the dining room is modestly populated. But we were in no hurry. We walked in and sat down. Far better than the 30 minute wait amid total bedlam we faced across the street.There was absolutely nothing wrong with the food--and, in spite of how it may sound, that is a tremendous compliment.The decor is workmanlike. Sufficient. Comfortable. Expensive wallpaper and high prices has little appeal for me.We've been here before and were equally satisfied. Need to move this higher on our goto list.
