Service and staff were great. The Ceasar salad was a solid 3. (Fully edible but not memorable.) Atmosphere is "hotel lobby" which makes sense since that's essentially where the seating is.

This is the worst restaurant I’ve ever experienced in a Marriot hotel. The food is very bland. Ordered their butternut squash soup of the day and salad and they gave me a salad with no dressing and the wrong kind of soup. Servers have no restaurant etiquette. You have to ask for any kind of menu, they do not just bring it over to you. Servers rudely interrupt you when ordering and still messed up the distribution of food when bringing it over. They were standing in a corner chatting, paying no attention to customers sitting down. Food also takes a VERY long time to come out. A salad and soup took 30 minutes. You’re better off doing Uber Eats than going to this restaurant.

I had only drinks no food. Bartender was friendly. I did not wait for drinks. Was there for a work conference so one evening and a few drinks before bed was just the thing.

Bring ear plugs . The antiquated heating / cooling system makes loud thumps every time it turns off . There are other strange noises that randomly occur in the vents . The rooms are nice and clean and the staff are very nice , but nothing makes up for not getting sleep .

Rooms were a bit on the small size. There was not enough closet space or dressers for clothes. We only had three in the room and we had to use our suite cases to keep our clothes in. The beds were comfortable. Service on the concierge level was outstanding. The banquet meals were over priced and not worth the money we paid for them.

Wow! This hotel is phenomenal! The people working here are the cream of the crop! Hung, Mat and Erin have been amazing and have gone above and beyond to make our stay great! I am so thankful for them and will definitely be back! The rooms are nice, clean and the views are great!

The staff is so hospitable at this property: from the check-in, to the concierge lounge staff, to Justin with guest services, to the assistant manager, the "Rock Grill" restaurant (uncertain of the exact name of the hotel restaurant) servers, ...they were all marvelous.
Wonderful downtown property. Very comfortable updated rooms. Staff is terrific. Yaritza at the front desk was so friendly and courteous, manager Mat was so great to chat with and Melissa at the bar is very sweet.. just like the song. Come stay here!

I'm shocked and borderline upset this hotel is only ranked #13 in Des Moines. It easily should be in the top #5. Hands down. This is a fantastic hotel located in scenic downtown Des Moines. This full service hotel met and exceeded all of my expectations. Friendly front desk staff, outstanding valet, great waitstaff, fast elevators and clean/spotless hotel rooms. Our hotel room located on the 15th floor was fresh and spacious with a huge window. I appreciated most that our room had no carpeting. It had beautiful wood-like flooring, and it came across cleaner & fresher than other hotel rooms. The glass shower was spotless, not a water spot to be found. Ample fluffy towels, great internet speed and huge TVs.

Food was warm, not hot. The soup was lukewarm and only half full in the bowl. The $15. dollar drink was maybe 12 oz, Not worth it. Server Laura was nice, thankfully.

From the very first employee we talked to on the driveway to the last guy I handed the key cards back to where all super friendly and very helpful! Hotel was very clean and quiet, seen someone wiping something down every time we walked around the hotel. Lots of things to see and do within walking distance, and the enclosed skywalk is attached to this property so you may not have to go out in the weather when exploring. The only minor complaint we had where the beds were firmer than we are used to. When back in Des Moines we will definitely stay here again.
