El Toreado Mexican Bar & Grill

FOOD WAS AMAZING AND THATS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. PHENOMENAL FOOD! HOT, FRESH AND FULL OF FLAVOR. BEST SIT DOWN MEXICAN FOOD HANDS DOWN! LARGE PORTIONS AND WORTH EVERY PENNY. SERVER WAS PHENOMENAL TONIGHT AS HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WORKING WITH ABOUT 10 TABLES HE WAS ATTENDING TO. FOOD WAS OUT WITHIN 10 MIN HOT AND FRESH. WILL BE MY GO TO FOR MEXICAN FOOD

All the food was good and as expected. The bean dip was very thin. None of the staff we interacted with was fluent in English. This made asking questions about the food and other things difficult. Mildly offput by the wandering band. It's a nice place.

Parking: It's a tight shared strip mall parking lot.

Very disappointed. I ordered food to go, and got a drink at the bar while I waited. I ordered a lime mojito, which the menu clearly says is made with Bacardi, for $12. I watched the guy make it using bottom dollar Barton rum.

We have so many Mexican restaurants on the SS of Des Moines, prices are the reason I will not be back. Three street tacos, which were just okay, with rice and beans are $15.99. Cheese dip not worth the price at $9.75- it was basic actually added some hot salsa to it. Classic Mexican dish Chori Pollo is $17.99 and house margarita's are $8.99. Classic Beef Chimichangai was $14.99. Staff was nice and service was great. The bill was $106 before tip- most I have spent on lunch in a long time for three people. There are too many good SS Mexican restaurants to choose from so due to price will not be back.

Y'all do NOT sleep on the drive through!!! I knew what I wanted before I left the house, a chicken chimichanga and a cheese dip, and I was only waiting for mayb 3-4 minutes!! It's perfect for a Friday night dinner when you want to stay in your PJs and want delicious food!

We just arrived at Des Moines airport and we’re starved! So in search of food and a cold beer. We stumbled upon El Toreado off Fleur Drive and what a find! We both had the chimichangas and the coldest beer ever! The atmosphere is lovely and the true Mexican “happy” music was at just the right volume. The service was absolutely outstanding. If we lived in Des Moines, then El Toreado would be our go-to Mexican restaurant for sure!

First time here, chips and salsa great, cheese dip is off the hook. Texas burrito delicious, beans everything is delicious. If you want some good Tejano grub this is a good place.

I do not recommend this place. It is too expensive. The high prices they have are incredible. We should not support these very expensive places.

Absolutely amazing service!! Very, very friendly. The food was great as well. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. We had steak burritos, steak fajitas, and El Patron. All dishes were cooked to perfection. And did I mention the fast and extremely friendly service? We will definitely be back soon.
