Food is fresh and the tortilla on the burrito was excellent. The burrito was very large and tasty. Not a significant amount of ingredient options. Service was OK.

I wasn’t going to say nothing the first time it happened but this is the second time I watched someone get served in front of me and they gave them way bigger portions then I did and I feel like they pick and choose. Don’t get me wrong I like the food but I don’t think I’ll be going back again .

Foods greasy, and they were going to charge 1$ extra for some hot sauce. Seems like a rip-off. I wish I had gone to Chipotle instead.

Recently ate here for the first time. I had trouble deciding which protein/meat to choose, so the gentleman gave me a sample of each! My burrito was delicious and enough food for multiple meals!

This is an understated Mexican fast food restaurant. I think their fish burrito is incredible, by far the best burrito in the metro. Be sure to ask for the special fish sauce on top. They make their burrito shells from scratch, grill the blackened fish while you stand in line and assemble the burrito at the end and grill the whole thing a second time. The value for the price is incredible. It’s a gut bomb so bring your appetite.

I've ordered from Fernando's many times and the food and service has always been very good. Not today. I ordered online through their website for delivery and was told my food would arrive in 12 minutes. I waited 40 minutes before calling the restaurant and was treated poorly on the phone. When the food was finally delivered it was completely cold and unappetizing. I won't be ordering from this restaurant again.

I can say with complete conviction, Fernandos has the best burritos in all the Des Moines area. I'm so happy they are expanding to other locations. At their original shop on University, the owner would make my burrito with care, and it made me feel like I was a very important customer, not just another person. Excellent food and great family owned business. Will recommend to every person looking for delicious authentic Mexican :)

I never thought I would go to a Mexican restaurant in a food court and come across the absolute best chicken and Mexican rice I have ever had. I got barbacoa chicken and steak. All of them were good. However the chicken was fire. Not dry or over cooked....perfect flavors of the rice were phenomenal. I'll be going out or my way to come eat here. Nice job Fernando!

The downtown one is better and doesn't charge extra for sauteed veggies.

Burritos are huge. Queso serving size should be bigger, IMO. Blackened fish tacos were good. Kid loved the chicken tacos.

Sad to say, we used to like this place. First of all, it was very filthy. Secondly, the pop machine had no carbonation and when we went up to ask if they could look at it, they said they were trying to fix it. By the time we left, it was still not fixed. The beef in my tacos was so old, it was basically sandy. And it was very hot so seasoned way too much. You should leave that up to your customer to put whatever sauce on it.

Also, we were the only ones in the place and one woman was standing there stirring something on the stove and never looked up. Finally, someone came from the back, and she couldn't find containers. So we waited for quite some time before she could find those and bring them out.

We will never be back.
