Service was terrible. The two men working were very rude. Worst service I've had in Des Moines. Tea is good but not worth dealing with the staff unfortunately.

Do you like being treated like an idiot because you're not a tea expert? Do you like feeling your annoying the business your patronizing with your presence?Well then do I have the tea place for you!Welcome to Gong fu - a sterile, hostile snobby tea shopping experience. Bring your expertise because any questions will be scoffed at. Bring your thirst too - if you don't spend 50$+ you're clearly wasting their time. But if you DON'T want your high end food and drink STEEPED in snobbiness id recommend other local food spots. Places like the cheese shoppe or all spice might be more your speed. They are not snobby, they're approachable and friendly and like to educate customers on the product they're passionate about.Fwiw. I do not normally write any reviews and if I do it's for places I like. However I've been so routinely treated like unwanted trash at gong fu I felt compelled to tell others.Seriously, they're super rude and don't want you there for whatever reason. Support local businesses elsewhere

I've been coming here for the loose leaf tea since I first learned they carried a tea I liked; it's a great selection at a good price. I've looked online (out of curiosity) and I couldn't find a better price on the tea I drink, and I'd rather support a great local spot. Friendly service and great pricing for the tea connoisseur. They can also prepare the drink for you, but that's not my thing. Overall, I would recommend this place over any other.

It was our first time stopping in and we just had an all around great experience! There were two very helpful gentlemen working there when we stopped in, but we were mainly helped by George. He was very knowledgeable on the types of teas we were looking at as well as giving us history and tips on how to steep tea as well as information on types of tea pots. Very happy with the experience.

The staff could be a little more engaging. Like actually talk to the customers. Instead, they appear a little standoffish. Great tea blends. Right across the street from the Iowa Historical Building and the Iowa State Capitol.

The matcha latte is divine! From NYC and it is the best matcha we've ever had! We always stop on our way thru DSM. The hot and cold matcha both are unmatched and delicious!!!
