I ordered their seasonal Almond Cookie Latte expecting a cup of deliciousness, but instead got what tasted like steamed skim milk that had a very off off putting chemical flavor. My friend also ordered a vanilla latte which was insanely bitter. I had high hopes but unfortunately was quite disappointed as the chemical type flavor in mine was so potent I truly couldn't drink my $7 coffee. Atmosphere is super adorable, but unfortunately having 0/2 coffee drinks be made well is a bummer at a coffee shop. The woman taking our order also did not seem pleased to be there which damaged the experience for the 10 minutes I was there. Don't think I will be back as I don't want to risk another wasted drink.
Coffee slay!!!
Grounds for Celebration is truly worth celebrating. They have a nice cozy, yet friendly and welcoming environment.
I ordered a seasonal blackberry lavender white Mocha iced coffee and it was PHENOMENAL. Very tasty and well made. Prices are reasonable as well. They also have a wide variety of food items and pastries to choose from.
From the moment you enter you smell sweet treats and fresh coffee. They have a calm vibe playlist in the background that keeps some white noise rolling.
There are plenty of tables and chairs as well as love seat type chairs along the fireplace. This sets a nice relaxing ambiance with the sunlight coming in and the stone fireplace as a center focus. Very cozy for the winter time as well.
Along the walls and on some shelves when you enter they have local art, cute earrings, some tshirts, coffee cups, and other novelty items.
I came here to read my book but they have magazines, newspapers, and other materials to skim through. There were a group of people there playing cards who seem to use this as a meeting spot. Honestly why not? It’s such a welcoming spot to be at.
Plenty of free parking outside. Seating is also outside if it wasn’t 100 degrees, but they keep it nice and cool inside.

A cheery local venue with three locations around Des Moines Metro.
The roaster is located in the Beaverdale store.
Pleasant surroundings, good pastries, very good coffee (they do have heavy cream to put in your brew).
Browse the store to find handmade creations by local artisans and jewelers.
If you’re in the neighborhood, please be sure to stop in at grounds for celebration.

We had the orange cranberry scone, hot chocolate and white chocolate truffle latte. All was good! Wish they did simple latte art but loved the fireplace and cozy vibe.

Styrofoam cups.... REALLY???? Do better. To make matters worse I asked for it for here and that I didn't want the styrofoam cup. Dude still hands it to me in a styrofoam cup.Maybe the "grounds for celebration" is that you make better choices for the planet... and listen to the customer.
No vanilla chi latte. I had ordered a vanilla. No bread, no butter and no silverware as is usual. The staff asked me if I wanted the quiche warm! Don't know about you, but a cold quiche is not for me. I believe that the quiche was frozen; which makes the question about warming it up all the strangerI will not be

Worked here for years. I've worked in coffee for nearly a decade and I'll tell you right now there is WAY better coffee being roasted/made elsewhere locally. The food and soup are NOT HOMEMADE. It's Campbell's and it comes frozen. We would defrost it in the dish sanitizer lmao. Also the quiches are often delivered to us raw/extremely undercooked. The woman who makes them uses 2 Pillsbury pie crusts that she sandwiches together with water. I would get in trouble for throwing away raw quiche because "it finishes cooking in the microwave." Who wants raw dough that's been microwaved?? I would also get in trouble for throwing away moldy fruit (as long as it doesn't touch the other fruit it's "fine" apparently). We were also encouraged to re-steam milk for hot drinks. This is a HUGE no-no in the coffee industry. Who wants milk that's been steamed multiple times over?? GROSS. Especially when you consider how easy it is to just measure the appropriate amount of milk each time so there's none left over to begin with. Also the pastries are NOT HOMEMADE. Technically the scones are, but the filled pastries and cinnamon rolls would come frozen and our frosting is in these big white tubs. Also the owners would steal tips off the tables and keep them for themselves.Zanzibar's, the Slow Down, Ritual Café, and Northern Vessel are all much better alternatives and they're run by more decent people.
Favorite coffee spot in Iowa!
We stopped in late-morning one day and were surprised how many people were there. The coffee and drinks were great and the sandwiches were good as well. The register girl wasn't the friendliest but as she was working alone, it was likely she was just overwhelmed. I've certainly had bad days before and give her grace as there was a line of customers behind us and she was alone making the drinks and keeping things running. Her timing was fast and she got the orders accurate. They had a lot of seating and despite the amount of people, we didn't feel like it was overly loud. A nice place to pop in!

We have been coming here at least once or twice a week (or more…) since we moved to Beaverdale in 2020. We usually just get regular coffee because their coffee beans, which they roast on the premises, are always so good. But their other drinks are also delicious. The limited food menu is fantastic, fresh and homemade. I’ve had some of their soups and quiches and they’re all great. And you can’t go wrong with their pastries either. This location is very spacious with lots of seating. It’s a nice cozy place to read, study, work, or chat. Great atmosphere. I’m so glad to have this place right in the center of our little neighborhood!
Always good coffee and service.
Parking: A little tight but managable.
