GALA and SAM are the BEST ! ! !

Server GALA makes this charming late night spot a winner. She knows the details of hotel guests' dining preferences and makes one feel right at home. She's a gem.

SAM was on the late night shift and is a champion. He made great conversation with us and was very attentive. Thanks for answering all of our questions, Sam!

Eat, drink, and be merry here. The menu is good enough for eating at all times of the day and it's a rather charming and intimate place.

Enjoy.

The wait staff is unprofessional and rude, and service is poor despite the limited number of tables. The food is great, as expected from a hotel of this caliber.

I witnessed an entire brawl that transpired inside AND outside the bar tonight that the bartender had cosogined. Very low browe establishment, not worth the price at all with the bartending service.

Walked in, went to counter, was directed to table. No other contact. I left with out a word to them or from them. You had 5 staff behind the counter. That's a problem.

Unable to give zero stars, so will have to go with 1. This is the only place I have ever walked out of. And it was simply because I couldn't get served. I sat at the coffee bar and asked 3x if I could get a coffee (one girl at least gave me a menu), but despite at least 6 girls walking past me and going behind the bar, no one would so much as look at me. There were hardly any more customers in the place than there were servers, so it was definitely not busy. I finally had to give up and leave. Unfortunate, because it seems like a cool place. But not cool enough for me to beg for a coffee.

Came into place for a quick breakfast and this place blew me away. The avocado toast was super tasty and the pineapple mimosa was delicious. Great food at a reasonable price. Our server was very quick and helpful with any questions we had. Would recommend 10/10

Visited Des Moines for the CCforIA event and figured I'd check out the coffee shop in the entrance to our hotel and was very pleasantly surprised at their offerings and prices; however was informed when I went to place an order for a Chai Latte with an extra shot in the morning that their coffee machine was broke. Another time if I visit I will check them out again because everything that I'd seen about this coffee shop walking in was appealing, but having the coffee machine be broken at a coffee shop is kind of a bummer.

Hobnob has always been a go-to spot for great coffee, but their new dinner menu is a game-changer! I had the bone marrow and stuffed arancini to start, and both were absolutely amazing, rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The ambiance was warm and inviting, the service was top-notch, (Well done Sean) and the timing of each course was impeccable.

For the main course, my group ordered the Flat Iron Marsala, which was cooked perfectly to order, tender, juicy, and full of depth. My friend tried the crispy sesame cauliflower, and while it was a lighter option, the flavors were just as satisfying.

Overall, Hobnob has truly elevated its offerings with this dinner menu. Whether you’re stopping by for a cozy evening meal or just looking to try something new, I highly recommend giving it a try!

Nice atmosphere, and good service. My wife had the steak deburgo omelette and it was very good. The Boursin cheese was a very nice compliment. I had the pork belly bennies, and I have to say it was like the chef was given a basket of ingredients on an episode of chopped, and this is what they came up with. Beautiful presentation, but the pickled onion and pickles clashed with rest of the dish.

The bread on my melt was saturated in butter, tea was served in tiny 4 oz cups, and almost all seating is for two. Service was good but the servers seem angry and downtrodden.

My partner was asked to reach out via email to the owner Sean, following our awful experience here. She did reach out many weeks ago, and she never heard back.

If I could I’d give it no stars.
We tried Hobnob the day I moved here. I was excited to eat in what is a very beautiful space not far from my place. And to be honest we never got that far because of the icy environment, and due to our waitress who made it very clear that she did not want us there… slamming our menus down and glaring at my partner who happened to be the only person of color there at the time. It was extremely uncomfortable from the get go. Since moving to Des Moines in September, this has honestly been the only bad dining experience that we’ve had.

As I mentioned in the beginning, the owner gave us an email to reach out to, but we never heard back, so the initial response to my partners review really comes off as disingenuous, and makes one question if they even cared at all. I sincerely hope that measures have been and are being taken to improve the experience of your guests. No one should ever be made to feel so uncomfortable and on edge that they feel they have to leave..
We will not be back

Really nice spot inside the hotel!
Fantastic service from Juliette!
Loved the drinks due to a great barista: Caramel Expresso and Vanilla London Fog.
The hashbrown was expertly crisped to peefection. Eggs were delightful.
My only complaint is the banana bread tasted similar to banana flavored sandwich bread with a cream cheese frosting.
