Coffee was good but waiters weren’t nice, they didn’t let us sit in the booths.

My friend and I stopped in on a trip to Des Moines. We were very excited to try as we had seen this place posted on an instagram reel. I got the French toast with berry compote and bacon. My friend got the avocado toast with bacon. I will say the bacon was 10/10. The best bacon I have ever had! The French toast was a little disappointing.. the compote was overwhelming. I felt like it made the French toast soggy. The strawberries were mushy and definitely frozen. There was some fresh strawberries thrown in which were better but the mushy ones were definitely not eaten. My friend asked for salmon with her toast but the waitress forgot to order it that way. When my friend wanted to ask for salmon, we were never checked on or asked how our food was so she didn't ask. The restaurant was very cute & lovely inside which we loved but overall, it was underwhelming when we hoped for better.

Very cute, easy to find breakfast spot attached to the Hotel Fort Des Moines! Wasn’t more than half full when we were sat. Server came over right away, took our orders, and we got our breakfast pretty quickly. Then not even a bite into our breakfast a different server came over and just dropped our check off. Didn’t ask if everything was good or if we needed anything else. Also weird the check got dropped so early because we both wanted coffees to go, but felt like the bill was already rung up and that was that. Our original server never stopped by after again to check in after either. I ordered Avocado Toast add on Salmon, as you can tell by my photos there was no salmon, very let down, especially because no one checked in to make sure everything was okay or if we needed anything else. Our server also didn’t write down our orders or repeat them back which is probably why she forgot or didn’t hear the add on salmon I ordered. We dropped our card on the check and time went by we ate our entire meal and then had to ask someone how to check out, oh we had to go up to the counter, which again, no one told us, and the place wasn’t busy so we never saw anyone else check out at the counter. The French toast compote stuff on the top was super weird. They used the frozen strawberries and sauce and then added a couple fresh cut strawberries to make them look fresh? The frozen strawberries were so gross looking and didn’t get ate. All in all super weird experience, I will not be back, but maybe it was an off day for everyone. They also don’t put ice in their water

We felt as we were inconveniencing them anytime we ordered anything. We asked if we could sit in a booth and they said no because we not ordering food…

What a pleasant little place to find below a hotel! This will remain one of the stops whenever we are downtown. Can't say anything about the food (but I figured based on what we saw that it will likely be good as well) - as we only had beer and wine at night and coffee in the morning.

Everyone is accommodating and friendly. Menu isn't huge but everything they serve is delicious. I usually get the oatmeal, I very much enjoy the atmosphere- feels like a cafe in Italy or France.

One of the best lattes in the metro. The homemade syrups- Amazing. The aesthetic is so calming & beautiful. I’ve had the avocado toast & the western omelette. Both were delectable.

Hobnob is located within Hotel Fort Des Moines. I stayed there last month and loved the convenient access to the shop! Coffee was amazing and service was incredible.

We enjoyed coffee, breakfast and a delightfully slow morning today at Hobnob. The omelet was very good, as was the brioche French toast. Enjoyed the coffee and a honey lavender latte as well, made with their homemade syrup. Tisha was an A+ server. Very pleasant, attentive & professional. She excels in hospitality.

This is THE place. Don't go to any other coffee shop in Des Moines. Great coffee, fast service, fantastic vibe. If you're into coffee, this place should be a destination. The espresso machines (below counter) are phenomenally advanced. All you see is the spout, the magic is below the counter. The Americanos are great. Very hot, makes for the perfect morning Des Moines coffee. No other coffee shop compares.

Maybe it was the beautiful romance all over my living room and bathroom that happened prior to arriving at Hobnob, but this place blew me away with its amazing atmosphere, kind servers, and amazing omelet. Omg nothing beats a good steak, onion, pepper, and mushroom omelet after blowing your girl’s back out. Will def be back after a more lonesome morning to see if I feel the same, but I doubt it’ll change my opinion.

So disappointed that they advertise the cafe opens at 6:00 however food isn’t until 7:00. I woke up early to have breakfast. Now I need to leave without food.

Incredibly beautiful space coupled with awful service. Unfriendly ordering interaction followed by watching one of the baristas go from messing with the public pens, to using the iPad, to using her bare fingers to pinch off the extra espresso while weighing. Pretty gross. My buddy ordered a vanilla latte and they sent out an unflavored. When she mentioned it, the barista huffily took it back, dropped a squirt of vanilla in without stirring, and handed it back. Just weird.

I love the location and interior design here. Located on the corner allows nice seating and very comfortable spot. I ordered the avocado toast and an ice latte. It was a little expensive at $18. The bread seemed homemade which was great and the sprouts and radish complimented the avocado. The latte needed sweetener for my taste but they had packets of monk fruit sweetener which was a nice touch.
