This is a local staple for Southside residents. It has a homey feel, kind of like going to an uncle's house. The food is perfect and definitely considered as comfort food. The chili on the coneys is amazing, and there onion rings are always perfect; thin and crispy and never greasy.

Food was very good, even though none of it is healthy for you, but taste wonderful. Sometimes you just got to go for it. ? Waitress wasn't the friendliest , but maybe she was having a bad day. They weren't very busy at 11, so maybe that's why she seemed upset.

Always a great place to eat! The food is always amazing and the staff are always wonderful! One of my favorite spots in Des Moines for some delicious hometown food like dogs, burgers, chicken, onion rings and fries, mozzarella sticks..... every single different item I have tried has been GREAT! Definitely check them out!!!!
Kid-friendliness: My daughter is 2 and as such has some toddler behavior. No one made us feel unwelcome as we reigned her back in got her under control and using her manners. Some restaurants you go to can be very rude about a 2 year old just behaving like a 2 year old, but not here. So nice to work on teaching my daughter better behaviors without people starring or glaring.

Rude staff. Mediocre food. We ordered to eat in the restaurant at 7:10 and were told with plenty of attitude that they closed at 8. When she brought the food to us, it was pretty much tossed onto the table. Food wasn't terrible but wasn't anything special. Won't be back.

Love their coney style cheeseburgers. Always delicious. Fast service.
Was hungry for a beefburger and Jim's. Coney Island came right to my mind. Have been a big fan of this restaurant for years.I got a beefburger basket, which includes the beefburger, French fries, onion rings and coleslaw. That is a lot of food for a reasonable price. I had a nice conversation with the owners and wished them the best when the restaurant changes ownership in August. I'm sure I will be back several more times before ownership changes. I also plan to support the new management.

Only positive was the onion rings, the coney was a boiled hot dog that was pretty much waterlogged. The only flavor was from the mustard, I'm not sure how chili can be so tasteless. Definitely not the same Coney as I remember from year's ago. Unfortunate as I would rather support small businesses over the big chain restaurants.
