My family loves this place. Seriously the best spot for Indian/Nepalese food in the DSM area. If I could give it 10/10 stars I would. The food is always consistent and everything is made fresh to order.

Kathmandu is hands down my favorite restaurant in Des Moines. Authentic Nepali food that tastes amazing every time I order. Vegetable samosas with the tamarind sauce are a must have! 🤤

Stopped by for lunch with a friend. We were seated immediately. The table settings were perfect. Our food arrived quickly. Everything was delicious. We will definitely return again

Absolute BEST Indian & Nepalese food in the state of Iowa. We had the Chicken Makhni, Chicken Saag, & Garlic Naan. This combination of flavors is one of the best meals I’ve had in my life. We also had the Kashmiri Naan for dessert. The portions are huge and the service is top-notch. Eat here, you won’t regret it!

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the Des Moines area. The food is consistently amazing, the owners are very nice and welcoming, and the buffet on the weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun 11:00-14:00) is almost too good to be true. It’s very fairly priced for the variety and the quality of food offered. I’ve ordered off of the menu too, but the buffet is too good to pass up. I recommend going earlier rather than later, it’s always better when it’s fresh out of the kitchen; plus there seems to be an influx in people around noon. Try it out maybe you’ll become a regular too 😁

All good friends here. They are wonderful chefs and hard workers. They serve up delicious momos and noodles. One of my favorite places to go to! Keep it up. Recently I was on a trip from Chicago to California and they even gave me free momos for the way! That’s how nice they are. 10 stars!

Absolutely Disgusting Experience

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was so appalling I feel obligated to warn others. I witnessed one of the employees leave the restroom without washing her hands. Yes, you read that right. She went straight back to handling food without a second thought. That alone should be a dealbreaker for any restaurant.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, the food was terrible—bland, poorly cooked, and definitely not fresh. I could barely get through my meal, and honestly, after what I saw, I didn’t want to finish it.

To top it all off, the service was horrendous. Our waitress was rude from the start and became outright combative when I politely raised my concerns. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, she started arguing with me in front of other customers. Completely unacceptable.
