They changed their coleslaw which is very disappointing, it used to be my favorite.

This place does hold lots of memories for me though. I have been going here since I was little, I'm nearly 50. I still go here off and on when I make it to Des Moines around lunch time.

Story has it it was a restaurant back in the 50s. It would be interesting to know for sure.

Went in to order for togo. Food was fast and hot and exactly the right amount of greasy that you want. The atmosphere inside was kind of meh. No one was seated to eat and it somehow felt overly lit and bright and stark. But whatever, I wasn't there to sit and eat. The new waffle fries are really good! Because you can't turn left from SE 14th, it is hard to get into the parking lot.

Purchased the fish and chicken platters through the drive through. It was delicious, fast and fresh. The gal taking the orders was so kind & patient even though i was a bit indecisive. Ordered a slice of pie it was tiny but delicious. Long johns silvers is a classic favorite of our family. Only have so say though, Why did they get rid of the regular fries to go with waffle fries? 😖 please bring back the regular fries. It was bad enough when they got rid of the onion rings....
