I'm a tough critic, but at this price you have to be. At best, this place is mediocre. The service was wonderful. Atmosphere is non existent. Had high expectations, but the food was all just meh. This is most certainly not authentic Italian cuisine. Almost no flavor in all dishes I ate. Carrot salad needed a citrus flavor or something, the canned black olives were such a turn off. Crab spaghetti had maybe 2 tablespoons of crab, was dry and zero flavor - asked for extra Parmesan just to get through it. Sea bass was also dry and flavorless. Had to ask for salt, dishes should come to the table well seasoned and flavored. Extremely overpriced for such mediocre food. Perhaps other dishes on the menu are good, but at this level everything should be excellent. Felt very rushed, courses came out before I was ready/finished with the last. Dessert was the best course, made the meal redeemable. I feel bad so many folks love this place, but you'd be much better off going to Clyde's or elsewhere in town. $100 for one person, dinner and two glasses of wine. This was more expensive than I pay where I live in Washington DC.

We were here on a Friday night with a group of 8. We had a reservation and we were seated immediately. The owner stopped by and said hello before our waiter even got there. The service was great the whole evening, our waiter knew exactly when to come back and when to let us be and just enjoy the dinner. The food was great, it was a 4 course fixed price menu. Everything was delicious and the portions were just right. The brick walls add to the already great atmosphere. The restaurant was great and we will definitely be back in the future!

Service was ok as well as the food but VERY pricey for a Des Moines restaurant....do they think they are in New York were the rent is 10x? Atmosphere was very dark and dry...put some color in it! Won't be back!

This has been on my list of places to go in DSM. It did not disappoint! 3 course served with a multitude of options to pick from, including some excellent pasta, scallops, and steak. Excited to try this again and explore this menu even more!

Came for dinner and had the pasta al forno which was delicious and the carrot salad. The wine list was a good selection. The cold draft from the main door is a problem. It freezes the first tables every-time a guest enters. For the size of the salad I think it was overpriced but the pasta was priced well.

This was one of my favorite meals I've ever had and I keep thinking about it and can't wait till I can go back and have some pasta! Really cool vibe and there's so much to see and do and downtown Des Moines. I love me some Iowa! I highly recommend and will go again!

Boring. Overpriced menu with a set selection that offers very little choice. Much better places in the Village that offer variety and choice!

First time at Lucca and we did the prix fixe dinner. Everything was wonderful! My favorite was the lobster spaghetti -- the scallops were a close second. A cup of decaf coffee with our dessert was a great touch at the end. Couldn't recommend this place more! Great for celebrating a special occasion.

Had a lovely time here this evening trying every kind of pasta they could throw at me. It was all excellent and Steve is a very welcoming host. Made me feel like I’d been going there for years.

Perfect place for a special meal. 5 course price fixe dinner for $55 is a deal, especially when the food is of such high quality. Only quibble was the bread was a little dry. But very other course was delicious: spinach and butternut squash salad; exquisitely grilled eggplant with homemade tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella; sea bass with remoulade and fresh salsa; and a lovely light lemon pannacotta with blueberry topping.Even though I came on my own and drank only water, the service was as warm and attentive as if I'd been a party of ten. The dining space is light and airy. This would be a perfect place for a romantic date or a gals' night out. I look forward to returning!

Oil sits out on table overnight ? not super hygienic in my opinion. Walk by daily and see this while restaurant is closed?!?Update:Walked by this morning and no oil was left out on the tables ??
