Every time I'm in town I enjoy a good pork chop here. The glaze and vegetables vary but I haven't been disappointed. Last night the bar area was really busy with people watching the game so the service was slower than usual. I tried the bread pudding and it was ok but not worth ordering again.

Decent place inside the hotel. We just had drinks and an appetizer so can't really rate the entire menu. Service was very good - waitress was great. Very solid restaurant for a hotel.

I'm writing this review from the perspective of a traveler who arrived at the downtown DSM Marriott around 9pm on a Friday night. By the time I had checked in and unpacked, it was nearly 10:30pm and most of the nearby food options were about to close. Lo and behold, the hotel restaurant is open til 1am! Being in a new city, at night, still mentally on pacific time -- this was a godsend. There was only one waitress working both the tables and the bar, bless her heart. Despite being on the far corner of the room and not in plain sight, I received better service here than other restaurants with full staff! My drink was immediately refilled as soon as it was empty. The chicken tender platter was delicious. I appreciate having comfort food, open late, without having to leave the hotel. Great spot for non risk takers.

Ok, this restaurant is in the Marriott in Downtown Des Moines. Checked in around 8:30pm on a Tuesday and wanted something quick but good, hopefully local. Surprising shortage of choices around the hotel. It was a pretty cold December night so I wasn't up for walking many blocks or taking Uber (read - I am a wimp, lazy and cheap - although that is not generally the case - just tonight). Decided to eat at Mash + Marrow. On the scale of Marriott level hotel restaurants, it was pretty decent. The people that work there were very nice and service was decently fast given that it was pretty busy. Got to watch a hockey game and it was not loud at all, but not creepily quiet either. Only a couple open tables. The local brown ale on draft was good (7 out of 10 - I am a brown ale snob) and the salad with apple and chicken was fresh and decent size. (There were a fair amount of fried options (I guess their fish and chips is good) and they have bone marrow - I just don't eat fried food anymore. Trying to train for cycling this summer). All around a decent meal for what it is. On my "Yelp" scale, I have to give it a 3 star given that the food was ok, not lights out or almost lights out. That said, if you want something fresh in an open, comfortable and not too noisy place near the Marriott in Des Moines, it is definitely that.

I wish I had known that this wasn't a restaurant, it was a hotel lobby with food. Perhaps that was my mistake for not researching it. Either way, the food was pretty but very bland. A big disappointment for the price tag

Our waiter was good. He took care of us very well. Didn't rush anything. Food was good only thing of concern was the medium steak we ordered was seared on outside and uncooked in the middle. But they took care of it promptly and comp'd our dessert which was a delicious s'mores tart

employees were amazing. Food was the best in town.

We went for DSM restaurant week. We thought the portion sizes were small, the food was rather bland, and the ambiance is that of a hotel lobby. Our server was really nice but plates were placed at the wrong seat for each course. The corn ice cream was definitely the best part.

Great bed and pillows! So comfy. Shuttle to and from airport. Great security. I came for a conference and the meeting rooms were always very nice unfortunately freezing cold like Siberia! But the great hospitality people brought us blankets. LOL

Had dinner with Cheryl. Enjoyed a one inch thick pork chop and rice, one of the best chops I ever had.

Overpriced Valet service ($25.00), $3.50 bottles of water in room, $7.00 beer at the bar, NO continental breakfast for exorbitant room rates, horrible mattresses, stained carpeting. This location is ALL about money, not customers.

We attended a banquet it was set up very beautifully the food was very good the service was great everyone had excellent customer service I felt like royalty and I will recommend the Marriott to anyone.

Let me start by saying any rating that I give is based on a subjective scale of value and quality. If prices are lower, the food and atmosphere don't have to be as good to get a positive review. In this case, Mash and Marrow did not live up to its positive reviews. Prices are relatively high for what you get, and the atmosphere isn't great. The staff was inattentive and seemed like they had better things to do than take care of guest. I had the "crispy pork belly" and there was nothing crispy about it. Chewy would be a better descriptor. Downtown Des Moines has a lot of great places to eat. Unfortunately, this is not one of them.

I should have trusted yelp. Average food. high price for average food.Decent service but takes a long time. I did enjoy the kale salad with added skirt steak from the takeout menu, should have stuck to that

Worst trip I've ever had. Tried to get a refund but once I mentioned that they stopped responding. Super unprofessional. Don't come here. Give your money to a hotel that actually cares about their clients.
