My husband and I are in town from a different state and decided to take a walk for a cup of coffee. We found Northern Vessel; and thrilled we did. Not only was the coffee really tasty, but the young woman helping us was so kind too. While waiting for our order, we started up a conversation with the young man who was folding a new delivery of t-shirts. We looked closer at the shirts and their message really resonated with us. We had a great discussion with the person there and bought two shirts to take with us. With costumer service declining everywhere, this coffee shop is just the opposite. It’s top notch.

This place is a vibe! It's busy for a reason. The down-to-earth, friendly service was a much-needed getaway from daily life. I also enjoyed the uniqueness of having varieties "on tap" & the care given making each order. Hats off to the owner ?

Best coffee in DSM ?? NV puts care and quality into everything they do - from their cold brews to their space to the smiles at the counter.
It's evident they love their community and although quality coffee is their staple, they are a presence that means much more than that. They are a light to Des Moines.
I only wish I lived a bit closer to make more regular trips, but we love to take home a quart of cold brew to get our fix for more than the day, soo good!

I don’t typically review places but felt obligated to based on the most recent experience I had. Besides the well made drinks and pastries I had, I was greeted by a warm and personable cashier who asked about my day and showed genuine interest in my well-being, asking follow up questions and making sure I was taken care of. It feels like this level of care has been non existent since COVID and this gives me hope in person to person interaction. Would absolutely come back and recommend this shop to a friend. A+

Northern Vessel is an awesome spot to grab some coffee, meet up with friends, and enjoy all that DSM has to offer. Their baristas are friendly, the atmosphere is so cool, and the drinks are excellent. Would highly recommend checking it out!

My faith in humanity was a little restored today. I went in to get a coffee for a friend of mine who was sending her oldest kiddo off to college. Now this friend appreciates a good/quality cup of coffee and so naturally I thought of Northern Vessel because I had enjoyed an amazing cup there a while back. So, I went in and just decided to order whatever sounded cool.... and I ended up ordering two cortados. Now, if you know what that is, you're 1. one step cooler/ahead of me and 2. know it's not your typical cup of coffee! They just invited me in, made the bougie coffees for me and didn't bat an eye. I've been in swanky niche coffee shops before and not known how to order or what to ask for and was made to feel very stupid or less than because I didn't know what a "fill in the blank" was.... Not only did they make beautiful tiny cups of AMAZING COFFEE, they made sure I had the full experience and added the tiny cups of sparkling water on the side.... WHO KNEW?! I also got donuts there and they were so sweet and polite and again, made me feel like I was the most important person there! Wow! The drinks/food, the atmosphere and most importantly the service was incredible! Thank you to the staff at the shop today around 9:45am for making a slightly frumpy midwest mom that really had no idea what she was ordering feel like I was exactly en pointe and had the knowledge of a seasoned bougie coffee shop goer! I will definitely be back and will tell all my coffee loving friends to go and bring all their friends!

New atmosphere! Nice to have a new place open on a Sunday. Looks like a hopeful thriving coffee shop. Thanks for being unique! Less ice though I would like to taste the coffee not the water. Could have brewed a bit longer for iced coffee.
