The coastline drink might be one of the best tasting drinks I’ve ever had but it is a terrible value. Caffeine content seems pretty low but I think there just isn’t that much coffee in the drink to begin with. It is better treated as a desert/treat than an actual cold brew

TJ and the entire staff go above and beyond to make you feel seen, heard, and cared for. You can tell they’re intentional about every detail, and it shows. Whether you're popping in for a quick caffeine fix or sticking around to soak up the atmosphere, you’ll leave feeling better than when you walked in.

I have been to a lot of coffee shops but Northern Vessel is hands down, by far the best coffee shop I’ve been to. Starting with the coffee itself, such rich and bold flavor. The majority of the time I order just black cold brew, but it’s so delicious. I have also tried their cold brew latte, which is also dangerously good. Not too sweet, but a great latte if I want to switch it up. More importantly however, the hospitality and atmosphere NV provides is second to none. They take their hospitality and customer service very serious, always going above and beyond to make the customer feel valued. My second ever time in, the staff remembered my name from the first time I was in. TJ, Jack, Dante, Antonio, Hannah, and all the other staff are extremely welcoming and friendly, which makes all the difference. If you’re visiting Des Moines this is a must stop try, and if you live in Des Moines this needs to be your regular coffee place!

My husband and I are in town from a different state and decided to take a walk for a cup of coffee. We found Northern Vessel; and thrilled we did. Not only was the coffee really tasty, but the young woman helping us was so kind too. While waiting for our order, we started up a conversation with the young man who was folding a new delivery of t-shirts. We looked closer at the shirts and their message really resonated with us. We had a great discussion with the person there and bought two shirts to take with us. With costumer service declining everywhere, this coffee shop is just the opposite. It’s top notch.

It's evident they love their community and although quality coffee is their staple, they are a presence that means much more than that. They are a light to Des Moines.
I only wish I lived a bit closer to make more regular trips, but we love to take home a quart of cold brew to get our fix for more than the day, soo good!

I don’t typically review places but felt obligated to based on the most recent experience I had. Besides the well made drinks and pastries I had, I was greeted by a warm and personable cashier who asked about my day and showed genuine interest in my well-being, asking follow up questions and making sure I was taken care of. It feels like this level of care has been non existent since COVID and this gives me hope in person to person interaction. Would absolutely come back and recommend this shop to a friend. A+
