Absolutely love this place! Last year, I became a fan at the Farmer's Market so I was glad when they opened a brick and mortar so close to me. I'm from Houston and we have a large Caribbean culture so I know good Caribbean food. And Palm's is it here in DSM. Great food and drinks, and exceptional service.

Amar and his wife (sorry no name. I didn’t meet her) are the owners of this new brick and mortar spot for their incredible food. They know flavors and have the spices to make them. Des Moines needs more spots with flavorful food outside the Midwest palate. Izzy was our server, and he was kind, courteous, and full of helpful tips and recommendations.
We ate the food so fast that I forgot to snap pics. Next time! I’ll be back soon. We had oxtail, 2 kinds of wings, & smash sliders. Sliders and wings were crazy good, but the oxtail was the winner (amongst all winners). I now have to order the oxtail from Palms and Lady Jerk for a side by side comparison. That will be tough to judge and find a winner, because I know they are both incredibly delicious.
Get there ASAP and support local restauranteurs.

I don’t really leave reviews, but this is an absolute 10/10. First time visitor, but immediately in my top 10 in Des Moines. They won 1st Place at 2023 Smoke Out Hunger and now I see why! We cleared every plate - oxtail, jerk chicken, jollof rice, fried plantain, honey suya wings, the rice & peas - all of it. Generous portions, music is dialed in, perfect service, flavor on flavor on flavor. The food was filling, but not heavy (which seems harder to come by these days). You just feel good through and through because you ate a genuinely home-cooked meal.

Wow, the smoke flavor on the wings was amazing. Service was attentive and friendly. We sat inside and when we visit next we will sit outside. The music and bustle inside was just a little loud for quiet conversation, but the music playing was great.
Food and Service is excellent. Somethings I felt were over priced for the quantity but dang it, it tasted so good I gave the price a pass. I'll be dreaming about the coconut curry chicken wings forever. Definitely looking forward to my next visit.

Izzy was our server and he out did himself!!! We had tons of questions and he recommended some great items on the menu. Please please please go and have your taste buds blown away. And if you're in the mood for a nice mocktail the hibiscus drink was amazing! The ambiance was very nice, music playing but not too loud and it was very clean! Can't wait to come back and have Izzy as our server!!!

In all honesty I truly wanted to love this place. I saw raving reviews about the food on Facebook and how amazing it was, but it wasn't for us. The staff was so kind and amazing, and the restaurant vibe was upbeat and cute.

Jerk chicken was fantastic, not spicy I'm sure they can accommodate. The dipping sauce for the jerk chicken was out of this world, I suggested they bottle it and sell it.
