We arrived in Des Moines on Friday for a funeral and grabbed a drink before leaving… Monday morning we were flying home. Kayla remembered us and stopped us for a chat. We ended up hanging out and Steven took amazing care of us. We will be back next time we are in town! Great staff, everyone was very kind and welcoming. Great suggestions as well!

Entire order was wrong. Ordered a burger, no bun, sub salad with house vinegrette for fries. Burger comes out with bun and fries no salad in sight. Set bun and fries aside and eat the burger. It was hot and delicious. Finally salad shows up with dill ranch dressing. I ask if it's the house dressing. I'm told yes. After tasting it I ask again if it's the house vinegrette on the menu. Waitress said she didn't know that was the house dressing and also tells me she's basically too busy to do her job right. 🤦♀️

I have been to hundreds of airports and airport restaurants; this is by far the best airport food I've ever had. The margarita was balanced yet strong and the Portermill burger was delicious and cooked perfectly. I would highly recommend.

Mouse ran across my feet twice. My sister asked for pancakes with sausage and potatoes, received sausage and potatoes IN her pancakes. Took forever to get our food. Go only if you are desperately hungry.

So incredibly slow. It took almost an hour and a half to get food (and it was only 25% full so being busy was not an excuse). Big breakfast portions don't mean much when you have 5 minutes to eat. Wait staff was pleasant and nice, but get to airport 3 hours early if you want to eat here.
Can't speak for the food since it took so long I had to leave to catch my flight. Servers said they were understaffed, and the bartender looked like he was having a bad day. I was there almost 40 minutes and didn't even get a water.

The reason for expansion and remodeling of the Des Moines Airport is displayed when looking for food options, but luckily, Portermill exists, offering a bar-type menu with plenty of seating, no matter the travel group size. I enjoyed their Portermill Breakfast and received good service from server Miguel.

I had a satisfying breakfast experience at Portermill. The food was tasty, the service was friendly, and there were convenient power outlets near some tables for those needing to work. I enjoyed the ambiance and the view of the airplanes outside.
