I ended up having a layover. It was 7pm and the restaurant was closed. However, the staff was truly amazing!! They actually made me a salad and a drink! They really went above and beyond to do this for me! The staff herebis top notch with incredible customer service!!!!

Arriving very early to DSM for an outbound flight, we opted for Portermill as it was inside the terminal. Reviews, well, as you can see, were not so great, but choices are limited.
Well, after our experience, I felt compelled to write a review because our food, service and experience were all excellent! It is after all an airport restaurant, so we were expecting the basics.
We arrived shortly after 11am, and our friendly server Jazmine was right there after we sat down. We ordered a salad entree and sandwich to split and requested side plates which she brought before we were even served. Delivery was very timely and the food was fresh and tasty. Very pleased!
The only item that was just average were the fries - thinking the oil needs to be changed, so a little soggy.
Otherwise, they nailed everything. As we left, another staff person assisted (as it got quite busy quite fast). Our check-out was quick and efficient.

We recently visited before our flight. We have a Cesear Salad that was delicious. I was very impressed with the quality and quantity. Our waitress was Kali who was outstanding. Kali was not only outstanding but she was the main reason we had such a positive experience today. Kali is very knowledgeable, attentive, effective and friendly. Thanks, Kali

I travel all over the USA and have never had the motivation to write a review on an airport restaurant until now. I ordered the meatloaf with homemade ketchup-seriously brought me home to my own meatloaf. Moist, large portion, and seriously delicious. The servers all check in with a smile and call you by name. The price was under $20 for a full meal and soda. If you are ever at Des Moines Airport-head over to Portermill. By the way, the gentleman next to me was enjoying a homemade pretzel the size of a dinnerplate and he said it was one of the best!

Really good breakfast! I was pleasantly surprised by how good the breakfast was at Portermill in the Des Moines airport. I had the egg and bacon breakfast sandwich with hash browns and the sandwich was fantastic. I would actually make a point to be in the airport and have time for breakfast next time. Server was nice and attentive. Can't go wrong sitting by the window watching airplanes before getting on a flight.

Place is garbage they gonna mess your order up 3 times and then act confused on why it got messed up. It got messed up bc they are all incompetent
We arrived in Des Moines on Friday for a funeral and grabbed a drink before leaving… Monday morning we were flying home. Kayla remembered us and stopped us for a chat. We ended up hanging out and Steven took amazing care of us. We will be back next time we are in town! Great staff, everyone was very kind and welcoming. Great suggestions as well!

Entire order was wrong. Ordered a burger, no bun, sub salad with house vinegrette for fries. Burger comes out with bun and fries no salad in sight. Set bun and fries aside and eat the burger. It was hot and delicious. Finally salad shows up with dill ranch dressing. I ask if it's the house dressing. I'm told yes. After tasting it I ask again if it's the house vinegrette on the menu. Waitress said she didn't know that was the house dressing and also tells me she's basically too busy to do her job right. 🤦♀️

I have been to hundreds of airports and airport restaurants; this is by far the best airport food I've ever had. The margarita was balanced yet strong and the Portermill burger was delicious and cooked perfectly. I would highly recommend.
