We had an exceptional experience at Proudfoot and Bird! The food and drinks were amazing and our server, Eric was exactly what you'd expect at a fine dining restaurant. He was knowledgeable, professional and engaging. The wood-fired offerings on the menu were unbelievable. The cocktails and wine list were phenomenal. We could not have had a better experience for our first time at the restaurant and the city. We will be traveling to Des Moines throughout this year a few more times and Proudfoot and Bird will always be a stop for us.

Our dinner at Proudfoot & Bird was very good. Service was top notch! 3 scallops for $50+? And they had no sear on them. While they were technically not over cooked......it was close. And to have them be that close to over cooked without a good sear......not sure how that is possible. When you offer Steak Frites and only bring a small (8 or so) amount of fries.....that is a fail. While the steak was cooked good, the fries, in this case are just as important. Fries were a fail. They could have been wonderful instead of an after thought. Brussel sprouts....GOOD! I don't have any issue paying these prices when the restaurant lives up to the cost. Would go back for a drink at the bar but not dinner. There is a wonderful lighted display as you walk in the door! Perfect for something beautiful! Too bad it stands empty. What a missed opportunity. Just another near miss.

We had Sam and Billy for our servers at the bar, they were extremely friendly, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. Our drinks stayed full with plenty of conversation. This is the reason we continue to come back to this hotel.

This is arguably the best restaurant in Des Moines!! The food was exceptional. We were in awe of every dish, they take all your favorites to a new level with design and flavor creativity. Our server Alysa was exceptional and timed every course perfectly. I will pass the word every chance I get that this is a destination not to be missed.

Nice dining experience. The pace of the evening and the arrival of food from starters to main dishes etc. allowed for a relaxing dining experience for our party of four. The food choices were amazing and prepared with care and plated with thoughtfulness in presentation. Food tasted great. Best Brussell Sprouts we have ever had in a dining experience. From being greeted at the door, to our servers and support staff, we were welcomed and taken care of. A first-time visit will be followed up with more visits to come.
Plan 2 hours. If you have a show or event to attend, plan accordingly. Lovely place, great food, but slow service.

Our waiter Eric was fabulous. Food was 5/5. Atmosphere at the restaurant is beautiful with the collection of original architecture and modern touches. Everything was perfect from start to finish. I can't say enough positive things about how great Eric was from the service. Funny, well spoken , and educated in the chefs sections and history on the venue. This is our new top spot in Des Moines.
