We went for a late dinner & to watch a band. The band didn't show which was a let down but the staff made up for it by 1 free round of shots which was a nice curiosity. We ordered dinner to be told twice that they were out of what we wanted. Wasn't a big deal because we just picked something else. The food was presented beautifully but a lot of it was over Cookies. The fries & my crab cakes were burned. We didn't eat the fries and ate around the char on the crabcakes. ( still was good)All the other food was fantastic!- steak-Korean sticky wings-crab cakesThe best part about the night was our waitress, she was incredible! We will be back to explore more of the drinks & menu.A great place to chill & have a goodtime!

What an amazing find! My husband and a good friend were looking for a good tapas place and came across Pura with great reviews. When Matt called to confirm my reservation and told me about the entertainers I said “we are in!” Our seats were ready for us with waters and menus already prepped for us. Seats were perfect! And the show!!! Omg the SHOW!!!! I would have paid to see the singers!!!! The food was so yummy and I’ll be singing and swaying to all the song in my head for days to come! Thank you for a FABULOUS evening! Service was exceptional as well. We will be back!

We had dinner here tonight, the food was awful. They were only serving less than half of the menu “due to switching to their summer menu” which left us with very few options and no meal options at all. The crab avocado tostados are made with fake crab, which the menu does not state. They had no avocado on them. It was literally fake crab on a tostado with a lime on top, that was it. The Mexican street corn dip tasted like Alfredo sauce, nothing like Mexican street corn. I will say, I think everyone that got the flatbreads loved them! But everything else ordered was subpar, especially for the prices. The Brussels sprouts weren’t bad, but didn’t have much flavor. Desperately needed salt but our server didn’t bring salt until being asked many, many times. We were a large party so I understand her getting overwhelmed and forgetting. The service wasn’t great, but again, it was a large party with a lot going on. I’m not sure who they have back there in the kitchen, but seriously so disappointing. There was about 12 of us and I doubt any of us will be back. There was a great band and loved that but the music was so loud I couldn’t hear the person next to me so that was a little much. When we made the reservation if they would have just informed us that they were serving a limited menu, we would’ve gone somewhere else. Same with the tostados if it just said imitation crab, we never would’ve ordered them.Hope they improve because it’s a beautiful restaurant with so much potential.UPDATE * I didn’t see my actual bill because it was on a digital device. Additionally I could not hear a word she said either because again, the music was SO loud. Just checked my bank account and was over charged, maybe put someone else’s food on my bill, I dont know. I got the Brussels and a flat bread (sent the tostados back, she stated we were not charged.) and was charged $56, left a $12 tip, that was GRACIOUS for how we were served and was chargers a $20 tip. UNBELIEVABLE.

We can't express enough how wonder Matt and the staff were to our family. We were looking for a last minute venue for celebration of life. The venue's atmosphere was perfect and Matt was so accommodating and patient as we scrambled to make the afternoon perfect. The food was fantastic! Thanks again to the whole staff!!

The food was a bad experience. Had a party of 11 and 4 of us got served undercooked food. I had the salmon risotto and it had no flavor. I decided to continue to try eating it only to realize it wasn’t fully cooked.

We ended up here for drinks after dinner and it was not super busy. The service was pretty good and the ambiance is almost like a bar/club. The view of the city is great! We didn't get food but the drinks we ordered were really good. I would definitely go back to try some of the food. Many of the options are classic bar appetizers and pizza.

Food good, service good, View fantastic, kitchen terrible. Our poor waiter did such a great job trying to apologize for the kitchen. He was great, personable and insightful but there was a total of 14 people in the restaurant and our food was delivered inconsistently with one of us waiting 15 minutes for his meal. Come on..,, This place has one of the best views of the city but get your act together for a party of 10 or you’ll lose us.

Visited Pura several times for cocktails and have had dinner and brunch there a few times. Great atmosphere & delicious food. The Crispy Chicken Bacon Ranch Flatbread to mouthwatering, brunch was top knotch with freshly squeezed orange juice & bartenders are always on point with drinks.

Pura Social Club is my new favorite restaurant! The venu is classy and beautiful. The views of downtown DSM do not disappoint! The handcrafted cocktails are unique, great presentation, and delicious. All of the tapas are generous portion sizes. Brussel sprouts and bacon risotto balls were our favorite. Our waiter Matt made the experience even that much better. He thoroughly explained the menu and was beyond entertaining. We will be going back very soon!

The food is undercooked they try to serve raw chicken. The food isn't that good takes them forever for staff to get to you and get to your order. The staff is unprofessional and complains. Complaints of management screwing over employees can't pay them on time and the checks bounce when they they try to cash them. Management steals tips from their bartenders. Do not recommend management is greedy money hungry and screws over the employees upsetting the employees who then hate it there and screw over the customers.

The amount of care that the owner and staff have put into this place make it one of the best spots in town! If you haven't been here yet, don't wait! The view alone is absolutely beautiful. Next time I'm in town, I'll be here!!

Pura is a breath of fresh air for des Moines. Beautiful view and atmosphere as well as very accomadating. To the former employees of Uriah, the owner, guess what? I've worked with and for Uriah going on 10 years now and I've never had an issue with him or not being paid or seen him as greedy and wants to be cool. He truly cares about all employees and treats everyone with the respect they deserve. If he didn't treat you like that you have to ask yourself what you could have done differently. Leaving negative reviews on a business because of YOUR actions only makes you look petty and your digital footprint any future employers may see. Karma is a real thing. Misery loves company.Everyone restaraunt could improve and has their off nights. Doesn't mean they are "trash" it just means they had a bad night. This place is worth trying again!
