We stopped here while during a trip to Des Moines very recently. We heard they were rated Iowa’s number one tenderloins and had delicious onion rings. So we stopped and we ordered tenderloins and onion rings and my other sister ordered a burger. There were four of us. The tenderloins were very flavorless and we also got onion rings, which were also flavorless. We didn’t understand why everything had no flavor.. Dry very dull very boring. The iced tea was fresh and good and the funnel cake fries were good. I would not stop here again. Also, my sister said the burger wasn’t good. She couldn’t even finish it. We did not finish our tenderloins or our onion rings. We stopped later to get something else to eat.

One star for the fact that the white cheese curds were good,not great just good. The tenderloin was big, too thin for my taste, with zero seasoning. The breading was probably the worst thing about it though, it was the consistency of corn meal, soggy, and pasty. Overall id say a very bad tenderloin.

Smitty's Tenderloin Shop on 14th and Army Post Road should be closed down I recently went there after 17 years they were The lousiest Tenderloins in the state of Ohio it gave me gas diarrhea the oil hasn't been changed since the store open I can't see how they stay in business

Old school,red and white checkered, best place to get a tenderloin in Des Moines. Remember going to this restaurant, different location back in the 60's. And not much has changed.

Smitty's has been around since 1952 it's. Just went through several Generations. Still owned by the same people. Their king and queen tenderloins are as good as ever. Just not enough room inside to seats everyone
