We stopped by Splash before a show at the Civic Center this week. I had the crab bisque, swordfish and creme brulee. My wife had the garden salad, swordfish and key lime pie. Everything was very tasty and served piping hot (except for the pie and creme brulee 😁). Service was terrific and the waitress made sure we were done in time to make the curtain. We'll definitely be back.
Loved the Splash dining experience. We had 8 ounce filet mignon, our friend had a chicken entree. The salads and soups were delicious. The steaks were prepared perfectly, tender, not over cooked, savory. Green beans were especially flavorful, not overcooked, and sprinkled with bacon bits. The sauce with the chicken smelled scrumptious and our friend didn't even need a knife to cut pieces off to eat--tender and melt in your mouth. Wine choices matched the meal well. the garlic mashed potatoes were moist, and tasty. Sauteed mushrooms accented the steaks. We can't wait to return for another meal. Wait staff were attentive and took good care of us to ensure we were able to leave on time for the symphony afterwards.
We arrived for a pre concert dinner at 5:45p and didn't receive our food until 7:15. We had less than 10 minutes to eat it before we needed to leave. The restaurant should consider offering a limited menu that the kitchen can better handle on concert nights, or take fewer reservations. Given that the restaurant publicizes that they are a Wine Spectator award winner, we were disappointed in the wine selection and surprised that our server (who was trying hard) was not properly trained on wine service. I asked for the manager's card to send feedback instead of sharing my experience more broadly, but it was not provided.
We had a 5:45 reservation for four people. In our experience, the restaurant took on too many reservations the night of the Paul McCartney concert. We were one of the last tables to get served our food and it was 7:45 before we even left for the 8:00 show. I hope they can learn from this experience and not take on too many reservations the nights of special events. And add to that they let two people in ahead of us that didn't even have a reservation that probably got served before we did cuz they were near the bar. We didn't order anything fancy and had basic drinks. I think they just had too many customers to meet all their needs. I will be back and I have been there before but I hope they learned from the experience. Our server was good, but I feel she could have brought my mother's salad a little sooner when she brought the other two salads to the table. Moral of the story... book an early reservation, even if you think it's too early it won't be.
Had a wonderful pre-concert drinks and dinner experience. They put us in a smaller room with a lower ceiling which was much quieter than main floor dining. The bartender Rex is awesome and really knows his scotch!!
I had such a great experience here; everything from the service to the food was top-notch. The clam chowder was rich, creamy, and loaded with flavor; easily one of the best I've had anywhere. For the main course, I went with the New York Prime steak, cooked perfectly and seasoned beautifully. You can tell they use top-quality ingredients and really care about what they serve. The atmosphere is classy but still comfortable, and the staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Whether you're in the mood for seafood or a great steak, Splash is definitely worth the visit.
We come to Splash annually to celebrate our wedding anniversary. As always, experience was very enjoyable.
Chilean Seabass was so fishy and smelly. They Broiled oysters with the crab and mushroom were just risky. The moscato was overpriced. Looks sub par. Nice staff. That's all I got. $200, felt like a waste of time and money
I always enjoy Splash. It is a good place to eat before heading to Des Moines Performing Arts for a show.
Serves was great. Food and drinks were good but my shrimp was over cooked a little chewy, tough. But overall had a great time with friends. I would eat there again.

Splash is one of my favorite restaurants in the world!! The food, service and atmosphere are the best! Every time I am in Des Moines I go to Splash! My sea bass was the best anywhere! Thank you!!
Absolutely amazing experience. Personalized menu for birthday dinner. Happy birthday written on her plate. Food was absolutely incredible. Steaks cooked perfectly, scallops were so delicious. Thank you for helping to make her special day even that much more special!!
The food here was excellent! Top quality and cooked to perfection. The staff was amazing and made our experience so enjoyable. Love the decor and the salt water aquariums.
This was my first time visiting Des Moines and after a long day at the amusement park, our dinner was the star of the day. My daughter said the lobster bisque was the best soup that she's had in her life and I would have to agree. She ordered crab legs and split them with a friend and the restaurant was so kind to give them both full sized sides. My filet was cooked phenomenally. My partner had the Seabass and it was some of the best I've ever had. We even got the teenagers to try oysters and although they weren't their favorite (due to the horseradish), I did have the oyster shooter and loved it. Our server Emily was amazing, walked us through the menu and was very attentive.
Loved everything had scallops and a lobster tail. Starters crispy octopus and lobster wontons
