I don’t think I’ve ever been told that I wasn’t able to get a cup of ice water. “This is a corporate location and we don’t do that here.” I told them that I get ice water at other Starbucks with no issue. All they said was “thanks for your understanding.”

Union strong! I will always choose this Starbucks any time I'm able! I would love more seating inside (the seating before the renovation was perfect), but otherwise, great baristas, great drinks, and I am sooo thrilled to have a unionized location in Des Moines. I always thought this location has had the friendliest baristas, but ever since they unionized, they have been chronically understaffed. I think corporate is trying to punish them. Stay strong baristas!

The gal taking my order, Jazzy, was very kind and helpful! It was super busy but she still went out of her way to suggest a fun drink I hadn’t tried before. Not the typical Starbucks experience, will be back :)

The music playing inside is very loud and disruptive, I wouldn't recommend this place if you want to come inside and have a conversation or are looking for a quiet place to study; noise-cancelling headphones are a necessity. The service and drinks are good, though.

There are two star employees there that absolutely brightened my day. Kaz and Matt are absolute rockstars. Kaz actually invited her own cold foam that needs to added to the menu. Anyone who happens to come here, definitely needs to request it. You can thank me later.
I ordered a Carmel ribbon crunch Frappacino and I asked for extra Carmel and whipped cream. When I received my drink it didn't have the whipped cream and Carmel that I requested. When I mentioned this to the young lady who took my order she was really rude to me and scoffed at me. This is not the way to treat your customers. I understand that people might be having a bad day, but it isn't right to take it out on customers. This is the only Starbucks where I felt unwelcome, so I will not be returning to this location.

The Starbucks on 3830 Merle Hay Ave. is awesome! They are super friendly all the time and I go in there quite frequently. They’re extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the products they sell and they always have a positive attitude which I find awesome as well. They are polite and personable and fast, even though I enjoy their conversation. Avalon, Sofia, Jazzy, and Maddie deserve recognition for their above and beyond reproach to their customers, their professionalism, and their overall attitude in general! Starbucks is lucky to have such employees!
Giana is the sweetest person ever. Provides the best customer service!!! I recommend checking out this Starbucks on Merle hay!

the guy at the window at 1:30 was extremely rude and passive aggressive towards me when it wasn’t really necessary….it kind of ruined my mood and made me feel really uncomfortable. they were even out of what i ordered and it was totally fine with getting something else when i paid for the original thing :/ i hope he has a better day
