First time ever in Des Moines and we stopped by this coffee shop that is very unassuming. Came in when no one was there but was soon greeted by someone from the back who was so welcoming and having conversation while preparing our drinks. Realized we came as they were preparing for a festival and that's why they were so busy. First time ever having a creme brulee style cold brew as well as their creme brulee soft serve ice creams. They also made onigiri in-house packaged the same way as you would see in Japan!! All very delicious. Gabriel, you're the man and I look forward to coming back again when I visit Iowa!

AMAZING!!! Coffee choices are delicious and unique. The owners collaborated Asian and classic European flavors in their lattes to make for some mouth watering flavors! I got the salted orange caramel Asian brûlée coffee and it was perfect! Not too sweet, very well balanced so you really taste the espresso as well ?the pastries were melt in your mouth fantastic! We got the cinnamon roll with lemon curd on top as well as a GF almond, orange pound cake. VERY GOOD! 10/10 recommend!

Not your average coffee shop - unique, homemade flavors along with owners that go out of their way to make each drink special.We have also had two of their special order Strawberries Bomb Layer Cakes. Perfect both times. Perfect for family celebrations. We forgot to take pictures because everyone gets too excited to dive in.

We have been wanting to try Bean and Leaf for a while and it did not disappoint. Me, my husband, and 3 small children arrived with no idea what we wanted but knew we were looking for something sweet. The owner was so patient and made great recommendations. Hubby got a Reeces caramel shake that he said is one of the best he’s ever had, we also ordered a mango frappe bubble tea- yum!, a bananas foster coffee and a basic chocolate fudge sundae. All delicious. We will be back!

This is the second time my husband and I have been to the Bean and leaf Café. Amazing customer service both times. They go above and beyond to make sure your order is amazing and will even give you extra toppings sometimes. The staff are super friendly. The owners are so nice and friendly! We will continue to keep going back as we love their ice cream and their service. The ice cream is awesome and the crème brûlée topping puts it over the top.

An absolutely surprisingly delicious cafe! Looking at the outside and inside it wasn’t impressive, mostly because they’re currently under renovation but the menu… wow! Every drink sounded delicious. We tried one that was a combo of coffee+brûlée+ice cream. Sooooo good! And another one that was boba+tea+frappe+brûlée. These combos are incredible and I would have never thought to mix all these things together but it works. I definitely recommend trying the drinks.
The food is great and love the variety of coffee. The vanilla chai tastes like a magical vanilla fairy is tickling my taste buds.

This is the BEST local cafe I have ever encountered!!! I am currently a high school student, and visiting the bean and leaf cafe has been definitely a crucial role in my high school experience. The owners Gabriel and his husband are the sweetest people I have ever spoken to! They will never hesitate to adjust nor accommodate to any of your needs. You are family here!!! There is absolutely nothing to dislike. It’s a welcoming friendly environment and the items are flawless! Come to this location!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have a great time here. The ambience is more diner-like than cafe-like, so adjust your expectations. Coffee prices are on the expensive side but it's worth it. The chai latte was one of the best I've had in the metro. Super friendly server and super calming environment as well. They also have food items that I did not try, but looked interesting. Highly recommend!

I love the wide variety of coffees. Many are Asian inspired and have unique flavors you can't get anywhere else in the city. They literally toast the sugar on a brulee drink. They also have awesome food - the special holiday strawberry cake is amazing, and it's the only place in the city I know of that sells rice balls (aka onigiri or jumeokbap). Get the moon mocha, it's (pardon the pun) out of this world.
