Was very excited to try this place, looked right up my alley. Requested a reservation, received a confirmation of said reservation. Showed up, and it appeared to be closed. I checked my email to find a reminder of my reservation. When I called, the person that answered informed me it was closed for a private event and seemed pretty dismissive about the poor communication.

This is a lovely little cocktail bar! Such a cute space--would make a great date spot. As a fan of gin, I love the emphasis on gin drinks--and all of the ones I've tried have been very nice. A highlight is the White Negroni: it has the balanced bitter and sweetness reminiscent of a traditional negroni, but is a little lighter and less aggressive than it's Campari cousin. I'm a big fan--and it's a great deal at happy hour

The atmosphere feels like big city. Swanky speciality bar...

I'll start with the positives. It's a fantastic location in a cute building in East Village and the cocktails are fabulous ... if you can get one. Here's the negative: I have never had this much trouble trying to get service somewhere. I'm not sure what the exact issue is but from my experience, if you're not a rich suburbanite driving in to the city - good luck lol I've watched 50 year old frat boys hoot and holler and get all the service they want. Young adults (with tattoos 1800s gasp!) good f***ing luck lol it's funny too because if they really are uppity then why is the design of the bar so fugly? It's very "hotel chain" bar. Whoever designed it has noo taste. I think they probably should have just built this bar in Waukee if they're gonna act like unstylish classist losers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is a great gin bar in a historic building. Must try the gin and tonic flights. They also have a full bar and make excellent drinks. I had a Grey Goose dirty blue martini and it was perfect!

Great cocktails and environment! Small plates hit the spot while having a libation. Beautiful lobby to enjoy and good live music occasionally.

My wife and I came for the first time. It was a great place! The service was great - she got us our drinks and followed up regularly. The atmosphere was relaxing and cozy. Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. This type of establishment is what makes downtown Des Moines great, whether you live here or are from out of town.We appreciated the bartender taking the time to share the history of the establishment....very kind.We highly recommend it and will definitely be back.

Cool ambiance but never got our drinks after 15 minutes. Ended up walking out. Service slow.
