Nice little German gem in downtown Dubuque. Enjoyed Bavarian drinks before warming up to some fabulous authentic German food. Was nice to spend time with the long-time owner.

Stopped by for lunch - definitely food that was just microwaved to Luke warm. Probably a fun bar to hang out but skip the food.

Place is a joke. Beer is good, atmosphere is cool, that's about it. Guy running the place has a bad attitude and offered terrible service. Ironically there's a "no whining" sign in the front. Our waiter is moping around whining about being overworked and wanting to get rid of this place. They had a bunch of junk occupying some of the tables and it felt really unprofessional like it's their living room. Food was horrendous $17 for the worst food I've experienced in years. It was like being over a friend's house as a kid and their parents boiled some dollar store hotdogs and hand you a plate of grey slop. Absolutely no love or care put into what could have been a great way to experience a little German culture. It's disrespectful honestly.

Can't comment on the food because they failed to say on ANY web site that they do NOT serve food on Mondays and Tuesdays. Went miles out of our way traveling to hit this place for dinner.Looks shady from the outside but small and genuine on the inside. It is in a tired neighborhood off the business area but was still going to give it a shot. Sad

What a great meal we had here. My husband had Sauerbraten and I had Schnitzel. Both were wonderful. Joe and Sylvia were great host and we had a great conversation with another couple from the bar. So homey and nice.

We were looking for a different restaurant in Dubuque and Europa Haus, a German restaurant was recommended. A bit skeptical that there was a good German restaurant in Dubuque we decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprise. The food was tasty, a nice portion and the service was great. We had hungarian goulash. It was served with red cabbage and spaetzle in wine sauce. There was also a nice draft beer selection. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

if you like microwaved food then this is your place. Had the bbq ribs, it was disgusting. Total came to 10.43, but got charged 28.43. Didn't get greeted when we came in also.

I haven’t had a real German beer in a long time, the food and beer was just like being teleported back to Bavaria!

Don't be fooled by how this place looks from the outside, or even maybe the inside. The food is amazing! Like - if your grandma grew up in Germany, and made you the family recipe for Sunday dinner - amazing. Especially make sure to order something that comes with the purple cabbage! If you like traditional German food, you have to stop here.

We are on the road, and planned a couple of nights in Dubuque. We love German food, and Europa Haus did not disappoint. We had rouladen and goulash and were both very pleased.

What a sweet little restaurant/bar! We visited soon after 5:00 and we were the only patrons. The place did fill up rather quickly then. The poor man in front was a little overwhelmed as more people came in. But he did a nice job of keeping up. We all got a different German meal and they were all delicious! We had read that you shouldn't let the neighborhood and exterior of the place influence your decision and whoever wrote that was spot on! Nice little place for a nice German meal!
