This restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. The waitstaff was so kind and attentive!! Our waiter was excellent at recommendations for first timers at this restaurant. The food was amazing, I will be back again and recommending to others! I love to support local.
Was visiting from out of state and this place went all out. They stayed later to feed my friends and the bartender made these awesome mules and French martinis. I was going to stop in again before I left but I wasn’t able to. But I will be back in Sept! 10/10 love this place.
Hops & Rye provided outstanding service and tasty food for our large group (21 people!). They were accommodating, timely, and professional in all correspondence leading up to the luncheon, and the waitstaff was pleasant and polished. Great variety of menu options. Neat venue. Good people. We definitely recommend checking them out!
Hipsters with man buns and servers with no knowledge of rye. I asked the bartender for a couple of recommendations of which rye to try and the guy was clueless. The waitstaff have a too cool for you attitude and the place was trying to portray a speakeasy vibe and it just felt like it was trying too hard to be trendy. A definite place to avoid in Dubuque IA.
Good food, good drinks & the service was great! I believe the bartender was Fiona & our waiter was Will. The peach ring martini was amazing! ?
Yum! We usually go at night for Covid take out but ran in for Covid lunch take out today…absolute best tuna melt ever!! We haven’t tasted anything we didn’t love yet. Our daughter swears by the veggie burger but it is always a tough choice over their spaghetti squash. Definitely part of the best restaurants in Dubuque bracket.
Good food, great old fashioneds, and exceptional waitresses and owners. The hosts here do a great job of making sure you have an enjoyable evening. If you're in Dubuque for an evening, I would recommend stopping by.
Food is fantastic and the staff is very kind and professional!! i highly recommended this spot!
We chose this place based on the menu. We were looking for something new for date night. The crab stuffed mushrooms were amazing! At first we were not impressed by the $15 tag on 3 mushrooms, but the taste and texture made it worth it!
Delicious food, very friendly people, great drinks! Recommend it highly!!

We had been out on a walk and decided to stop in and see if they offered a dessert. The server said they did so we took a seat. That was the best part of our experience. The server was less than attentive and too familiar with everyone. She kept referring to people as "guys". "Hi guys." "What can I get you guys." My husband asked if he could get coffee to go with the dessert and she said she would be right back. Almost 10 minutes later she came back and told us it would be 20 minutes for them to make coffee and did we still want it. We ordered the chocolate mousse dessert that came with "whipped topping" and a raspberryerry sauce. I asked about the whipped topping and she said it was made fresh in house. When we got the dessert it would have been perfect for Halloween. The raspberry sauce was splattered all over the place like blood. The whipped topping was so sickeningly sweet that you couldn't even taste the chocolate of the actual dessert. While we were eating it she came by and dropped our check without saying anything. She then came back 2 minutes later and picked it up and looked inside and saw there was no card in it and said "oh, whenever you're ready". So no coffee, terrible service, and the actual cake was the only enjoyable thing. Please note there were only two people at the bar, one table that was already there before we were, and one table that came in approximately 15 minutes after we did. I've been in the service industry since I was 12 years old working for my mother and this was horrible. We won't go back to try food or cocktails.
Super nice staff with great food and drink selection!
I had the most amazing time tonight. The jambalaya was amazing. And was it Fiona was perfect (stolen from the people down the bar). Looking forward to my next visit!
If I could I would leave zero stars. Went in for lunch at noon ordered food and a few beers. It took 15 minutes for the waitress to take our order and over 30 minutes past and we still have not received our food. This included an appetizer and an entree we ended up leaving without our food. I sticking a 20 underneath the half empty beer I had and left. I'm not sure it was going on with their kitchen but they were not busy. Super disappointed.
WHAT WE ORDERED: -> The 'Pepper Jack Jalapeno Bison Burger' ... House-Pickled Jalapeno, Pepper Jack Cheese with House-Made Chips. Served on a brioche bun. OVERALL IMPRESSION: -> We expected a good Bison-flavor ... and we were not disappointed! It is very hard to cook a moist Bison burger, but you guys nailed it. It reminded me of the first time I ate a hamburger at Louis' Lunch in New Haven, CT ... the meat was the center of attention! All it needed was a touch of salt. HIGHLIGHTS: -> Brioche Bun was phenomenal ... it was like a toasted pillow of wonderfulness. -> Burger was more on the medium-well side (we ordered it medium), but still moist, with very good texture, and excellent flavor. -> The house-made pickled jalapenos were off the chart. The flavor was unlike anything I ever had before (almost like a semi-spicy dill pickle). They reminded me of candied jalapenos but without the sweetness. Kudos to the creator of them. -> The jalapenos were matched with Pepper Jack cheese. I must say that it is hard for jalapenos and Pepper Jack cheese to not overpower the flavor of the burger, but the proportions were perfect. It was an even balance of both. Nice execution. -> We had Jess as a server, and being a food business owner myself, you could just tell the passion she has for what she does and where she works, as if the place was her family. LOVE IT !
