Chicken wasn’t fresh and took long time to get food. Juice was good at least.

In the land of meat and potatoes, this place is a gem in the rough. It’s hard finding vegetarian options in Dubuque. Even places claiming to be innovating and exploring new culinary ideas have nothing without flesh in this town. Refresh is a refreshing branch off of the path that Dubuque stays firmly upon. I forgot about this place because I used to work out of town, but I look forward to many lunches from here in the future

A very casual cafe with a limited menu and four tables, in a restored historic building. We went for the vegan option, a Philly panini with seitan, cheez sauce, and a couple pieces of onion and bell pepper. Not much value for the cost, but hot and filling.

Said it was open online. The open sign was on the door, but when we got there, everything was dark and locked. I really wanted to try it. Don't know how it is as of right now 1 star

Great Pesto Panini! The Apple Crisp salad was also good. Service was great for only having one worker

Came in for lunch based on the high reviews. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak, half of the steak was in edible as it was grizzle. My partner ordered the chicken barbecue sandwich. The flavor of the chicken was good, but the heavy, doughy bread dominated.
The food was served in polystyrene takeaway containers and accompanied by plastic silverware. Absolutely no reason to be adding to landfills in a dine in restaurant.
Finally, the curtain in the restroom was gross.

Food is still great. This review is after new hours and new menu. Humble furnishings and decor, but the food makes it worth trying or coming back for. Ask about options not on the normal menu.

Dubuque’s gem for quick healthy options—great salads and sandwiches, and the fresh juice drinks are all fantastic. Owned and operated by some local, stand-up people who care about quality and excellence.

Just needs some work on seasoning, presentation and execution. Cheese dip served cold and watered down doesn’t do so well. You can’t set a polycarbonate dish in a warming pan and expect it to keep heat. I would highly suggest tasting product before leaving in a warmer (chicken). Be careful on items that you plan to serve in a steam well because it continues to cook. Nobody likes chicken that’s dried out. Italian beef holds well, or if doing chicken suggest bbq shredded chicken or a product that’s been marinated and won’t dry out over time. The potential is there.

Awesome sandwiches! Had the chicken cordon blue and chicken pesto panini. Definitely my new go to lunch spot!
