This is my second time eating here and it did not disappoint!!! Excellent food and excellent service.
We were able to have a pleasant experience with wonderful food. The managers made this possible by providing “no pets” in an establishment that serves food. A customer argued with the manager but he stood his ground. Thank you! FYI- the pretzel is large enough to feed 4 people and the French onion soup was delicious. This used to be a German bank and the handicap restroom shows the inside of the vault door.

Food was great and service was good. We had the large pretzel, chicken gnocchi and the burger. My gnocchi was really good, cooked and seasoned well. Burger was also good. Our one complaint was the salads: both house salads were extremely small portions, and that's frustrating given the $3 upcharge for it to come with the burger. Produce used in the salad was good, but easily half the size it should've been.
Awesome food great service!
We started with an old fashioned flight- smoked traditional, blackberry brandy and cranberry (notes of choc on this one). We had their giant pretzel, it was huge; swear it was like 2 lbs! It came with a delicious white cheese sauce. I had the French onion NY strip steak with mashed potatoes and house salad with jalapeño ranch dressing- so good! Hubby had the blackberry bourbon pork ribeye with loaded potato soup. Both amazing! We couldn’t even finish them but did finish up with a flight of mudslides; traditional, caramel pumpkin, and chunky monkey. We did have them put their snore cheesecake in a to go for next day dessert; of course it was taste tested when we got home and promises to be as great as the rest of the meal.
Our server was amazing, though I don’t recall her name, very friendly and attentive.
In summary: highly recommend. 🙂

We had a group of six for lunch on Saturday. Not very busy but had made reservations. Three had the steak sandwich and three had the salmon salad. It was good. Waiter was attentive. Relaxed atmosphere to watch the Iowa State / Kansas State football game. Noise level was low so able to hear each other well. We will return next time in Dubuque.
Delicious caprese chicken sandwich.

We have been celebrating our wedding anniversary for 36 years in Dubuque and were looking for a new restaurant to share dinner. The Vault is conveniently located just 1/2 block from our motel, the Holiday Inn, on Main St and after reading reviews on line, thought we would give it a try. We requested a booth and were seated area near the bar but far enough away where we could talk comfortably. There appeared to be a large dining area further back in the establishment for families. Our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu. We each ordered 1 drink with my wife requesting a white zinfandel and me a mixed drink. They did not have the white zin so she opted for the Moscato, which she indicated was quite good. We each ordered 8 oz, medium well filets with my wife getting the baby baked potatoes and I elected for the the mash potatoes with gravy. The entree also included a dinner salad. We found the dinner salad to be fresh and the dressing options complete. The only thing lacking was possibly a bread basket to add with the dinner salads. The filets were cooked perfectly and very delicious. My mashed potatoes were excellent and my wife loved the baby baked potatoes. We finished off dinner with some dessert and elected for the berry cheesecake that we shared. It was wonderful and definitely would order again. There service was great with our server being very helpful and the manager checking on us to insure everything was acceptable. Overall, I think we have found out new go-to spot in Dubuque for dinner. We were there early, around 5:00pm. It was a great experience and well worth a visit if you are in Dubuque.
There is a lot of pub grub downtown Dubuque but if you'd like something nicer The Vault may be a good option for you. Sadly the lobster mac & Cheese is no longer an option -- but in addition to the burgers or chicken sandwiches you can get decent salmon or steak and the like. The environment is a little classier but no need to dress up. BTW -- there is indeed a vault at the back of the venue.

Everything was great! Ordered a rib eye and it was seasoned well and cooled to a perfect medium rare, had coleslaw and potatoes on the side that were both excellent and the staff was extremely attentive and friendly.

One of our favorites! Never disappointed. They change up their food and cocktail menu often. Giant pretzel is sooo good. The blue gill is also tremendous. Always recommend.
