The best place I've ever eaten, the food was absolutely amazing. The waitress outstanding
Wasn't crowded for 7pm on a Saturday night. Service was friendly but took 15-20 minutes to get a glass of wine after we ordered. Sea bass was very good. Shrimp and crab carbonara was average at best. We have been here before and loved it! No so much this time.
This evening was in celebration of two birthdays. The restaurant felt cozy and inviting from the friendly face greeting us at the door to the waitstaff. The food is incredible... The only reason for the "Good" review is because the originally ordered steak presented overcooked. However, within fifteen minutes a new steak was provided and it was removed from the bill. The Woodfire grill provides a free delicious desert for your birthday. I would recommend this restaurant for date night or a family gathering. We will definitely be back!
The quality of the Prime rib and steak were not good. I grow and harvest a lot of prime beef and these cuts would not grade prime. They were tough and lacked marbling. I don't know how the Prime rib was prepared it was tough and pink on the inside and a funny brown on the surface. The meat had no flavor. The soups were so salty we could hardly eat them. The sea bass and mac and cheese were excellent. The bread butter and chutney were very good. We ordered a Red wine to go with the meat dish and it didn't arrive until we were almost finished. I don't think it was the waiters fault. Are server was Jordan and he did a good job. The cocktails were very good. The bill was right at $300.00 I don't feel it was good value. Next time in Dubuque it think we will head to Timmermans for better quality meat. They don't advertise Prime any more but there choice is very good. Since covid Boyd has gotten really tight on their comps.
The experience was great, only set back was we had an 845 res and wasnt sat until about 10 after 9. Being understanding of the bigger parties there. Our server Jordan was outstanding. Food was phenomenal, atmosphere fantastic. Worth every penny cant wait to go back.
Everything was both great and beautiful!! The food was even better making our Valentine's Day perfect!!
Woodfire is a bit more expensive, so it's usually a special occasion that brings us out. Valentine's Day is a special occasion, right?! What can I say - our waiter (Danny) was super! The special ribeye steak, salad, sides, and desert were exceptional. Delicious as always. Thanks for making a special occasion that much more special.
Woodfire had been trending down with higher prices, smaller portions and lower quality. I tried it again specifically because they advertised a valentines special for 2. When we got there, we weee told despite their advertising, they made a mistake and did not have the special. The server offered nothing so we left.
Had veal chops with mashed potatoes. The fiance had lobster bisque and a chopped salad. All of which, TOP NOTCH. Only had coffee and water to drink. Only issue I had was with the texture of the mashed potatoes how ever that is a personal preference. The flavor was amazing. Veal remind me a lot of chicken fried steak with brown instead of pepper gravy. The lobster bisque was creamy and savory. The height of the visit was the house made tomato jam. Should sell it by the jar.

It took a long time to get a round of drinks, people who came in to the bar after us had drinks before us. The appetizers were tasty. The salads were basic. Two of the four main courses had food that was way too salty. Overall, we felt the food was terrible for the prices charged. Mediocre at best for the price.
The New York Strip was cooked to perfection! Hats off to the chef! We had avocado rolls for an appetizer, Chopped Salad and Lobster Bisque. Cream Brulé for Dessert! Loved every bit!
The feature of the night was incredible. The cowboy cut ribeye was cooked perfectly and the sauce was perfect. My wife has the filet and loved it. As always dessert ended the night perfectly
