We are truck drivers who brought the narwhal exhibit to the museum across the parking lot. We decided to go to Diamond Jo and when we were finished, we saw Woodfire Grille on the way out. We decided we wanted to stop there, so we gave it a shot.
Please note it's best to make reservations on a Friday at least, if you want a table. We did not, however, the manager was delightful, and allowed us to dine at the bar. We were very thankful to be seated.
The ambiance and atmosphere here is absolutely fantastic. The Woodfire behind the clear glass and the low mood lighting make this restaurant a fantastic place to eat with someone you love or by yourself.
We had Callie as our server, and even though we were a quite a bit under dressed, and a little scrubby after unloading our truck at the museum, she nor anyone else ( customer or staff ) even looked at us like we were any different from anyone else. It appeared most people were in dress/casual for this place, but it was nice to not be looked down upon.
Callie was legit one of, if not THE BEST server we've ever had in a restaurant ANYWHERE. She took great care of us, made sure to make excellent recommendations, and was very accommodating. I don't know the manager/host name that sat us name, she was a lady with dark hair and glasses; She was also very sweet and accommodating.
The food: I had the diamond cut prime rib, wife had the fillet and both were perfect and cooked perfectly. The side dishes are shareable with like 2-3 people and come in a decent sized bowl and are delicious, and for dessert my wife and I split the brownie and it was amazing. This is legit the best meal we've ever had in any restaurant in the country and we go a LOT of places.
Thank you all for your kindness, thank you to the manager for seating us without reservations, and thank you SO MUCH Callie for your fantastic service. We WILL be returning to this establishment EVERY chance we get. ♥️

By far, some of the best food you can eat, especially in Dubuque. Everything we ate tasted amazing with zero complaints. Only thing holding this place back was the wait. Had reservations, didn't get seated until 30 minutes after the reservation was set for. Honestly, probably would have had to wait longer had we not asked the Hostess about the wait time. Server was great and apologized for the wait time on food. Would highly recommend going if you aren't in a hurry. But like I said, some of the best food in Dubuque.

Lilly is top notch server! Polite, efficient, knowledgeable of menu. Drinks and food excellent! Ambience was perfect soft lighting, beautiful fireplace. All A++
F&b director Jeff is a real asset to casino and woodfire. Michelle is an outstanding waiter. Service impeccable. New Year's Eve dinner special only gets 4 stars as shrimp was over cooked. Otherwise will always return to woodfire for an awesome meal 99% of time
This place is so underrated. The lamb chops and the New York strip were amazing. The carrots and whipped feta cheese side was to die for. It's off the casino so don't let that put you off. Ambiance is dark with fire everywhere. This should be a definite stop for any in the Dubuque area!!
Service was very good. Menu is fantastic. Lots of choices. Wine list also good. Can't wait to go back soon!
Fantastic meal, service and very accomodating. Smidge dark for my old eyes but next time might ask to sit in a different spot. Will be back, great Christmas dinner!
The service was amazing. The food was great. I wish they would keep the door to the restaurant closed as smoking is allowed in the casino and there is a strong cigarette smell in the restaurant which is not pleasant
Amazing dinner with friends. The food and drinks were delicious! Very affordable for the quality. Staff was extremely attentive and polite. Can't wait to go back.

The server was very friendly, provided good service. We had the filet mignon. The chef cooked it just the way we liked it. We had a couple sides. All were very good.

The restaurant has a nice environment, good food and good service, but I hope they can change the menu, they always have the same dishes
The food was wonderful. However, the service was sub par at best. Never offered refills, we were never asked if we'd like another beverage. We felt like we were a bother to our waiter. The waitresses seemed eager to serve their tables. I wish we could say the same for our waiter.
The ribeye steak was cooked beautifully and full of flavor. The plank salmon was also very good, though the skin stuck to the plank. The Brussels sprouts had a nice char, but could have used a touch more seasoning or sauce. The au gratin potatoes were cheesy, creamy, and very satisfying — definitely a favorite side. Dessert was outstanding — the toffee pudding cake with ice cream was absolutely amazing. Our server was polite and friendly overall, though a little snarky at times and slower to check in when we first arrived
