I have a true love for the coffee and beignets in the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana. My wife and I visit frequently to see family for the holidays. Having said that, there are not a lot of places that offer that sort of nostalgia when we get back to Iowa. Recently, my friend mentioned there was a really great coffee and beignet spot on the corner from where we were working. So, of course, we had to check it out! Boy, were we not disappointed!
Right away, we were greeted by the friendliest staff. They had four different flavors of beignets. Mind you, I’m an old soul and typically go for the classic powdered sugar. However, this time, we tried one of each. There was, of course, the classic powdered sugar, but they also had one with a lemon glaze, one with cinnamon sugar, and, last but not least, the dark horse: a spicy powdered sugar topped with chili powder and hot honey. They all turned out phenomenal.
Each had a softer texture than the beignets I am used to, almost melting in your mouth. Each flavor was fantastic in its own right, but what really surprised me was how much I liked the spicy one. Bring your friends, bring your family—this place is wonderful and has some of the best beignets I have ever had.

My husband and I visited this nice gem when we saw their sign off I-80. We were looking for a coffee place and like to try non-chain coffee spots. We were not disappointed! The coffee was amazing! The staff was very nice and helpful. The atmosphere of the place was very warm, inviting, and comfortable. This will definitely be a place we visit when driving through!

I feel bad for the older lady's working. The highscool kid looked stoned to the bone and was very slow.. Took my 87 year old grandmother last weekend and it was q uite the wait for food.. Food was Good. Everyone working was very polite. I think they are very understaffed or we just went on bad for them with events going on in town. Would recommend at least trying it out. The old school malt bar was pretty cool!

I'm Cajun, so I was skeptical to try this place for fear of disappointment, but I decided to anyway and I'm so glad I did. Their beignets take me back home. They are just like what you find in Louisiana. The café au lait I had was smooth and perfectly steamed. We stopped by for the brunch buffet and even though we came in at the tail end of it, everything tasted great. The staff was wonderful and the owner was also very kind and took the time to discuss the origins of their food with me. Do yourself a favor and give this local place a try. It is a gem!

Fantastic experience…I’ve seen signs for this place for years and finally stopped—so glad we did! Food is fantastic, beignets were fresh and delicious: we tried the traditional and lemon; both fantastic! I also had a breakfast burrito with bacon, again, great flavor. Really beautiful location and the staff was kind and attentive too. We’ll be back and I’m telling everyone I know about this place.
