WHAT A TREASURE! I grew up around the Ft. Madison Area, and loved eating at sub arena as a kid. Now as an adult I unfortunately live farther away, but every time I travel through Ft. Madison I make arrangements to stop and get a sandwich! I recently did just that and WOW!!!! They have NOT lost a step over the years! Everything was as great, fresh and tasty as I remembered! I was having a long and trying day and the joy of getting to re-experience something from my childhood that tasted exactly like I remembered it tasting, completely turned my day around! I always get the #11 with extra oil & Spice!!! The staff where friendly, the service was quick and top notch! I always appreciated that this establishment was so community focused with the hanging of announcements and accomplishments of local school organizations, local art, and that they hire local high school kids to work there! It warmed my heart to see nothing has changed from the atmosphere, to the food and service! I can promise you there is no sub sandwich shop anywhere in this part of America that can stack up to the freshness and quality of Sub-arena! I hope this establishment will continue to be around for many more years to come! P.S Don't forget to say yes to the Pickles!!!

After our trip to the Appleberry Orchard we decided to try Sub Arena again after not having it for YEARS. We brought in 3 adults, 3 kids. Within the first 10 seconds the owner started yelling at me for a very small request I asked for. Lettuce on only half the sub because my son wanted lettuce and his cousin didn't, then peppers on the other side. The owner walked out from the back yelling "we don't do that here, it's either all or nothing and we don't have peppers here." We felt very disrespected and almost walked out but my father-in-law really wanted to eat there. The young lady taking our order was so embarrassed and apologized. Unfortunately we will not be returning.

These ladies whip out some subs, n they are pretty darn good. Sliced meat on a hoagie style bun. They always have sweet treats and soups that they change up.
