I had the double dip(Left) and pineapple jalapeno(right) wings. The pineapple jalapeno was my favorite and the mack and cheese was fantastic. Overall my experience at the Basic Bird was fantastic and I strongly suggest that you give it a try.“

“I thought Waveland had the best pancakes in town until I came to MST. The buttermilk pancakes are thick, fluffy, with a slight lemon zest flavor and the homemade whipped cream is delicious. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ my smoked wings were good but I’ll be back for the cakes alone“

How do I know it’s the best, you may ask? The Des Moines Metro voted for several years in a row! I’ve followed these two ever since I met them in Cedar Falls, IA about 23 years ago! When I found out 20 years ago they were opening up a restaurant in Waukee, IA; I had to let the word out to everyone I knew! As former owners of Shanghai in Waukee (y’all know who I’m talkin’ about now), Cityview’s #1 Chinese Restaurant for several years (including an honorable mention for best Vietnamese food) at last had all the respect and accolades they’d ever dreamed of! Where else to go?…But EVERYWHERE! ? The food really is dynamite and it’s everything everybody says it is! The Mongolian Beef and Shrimp, the Governor’s Chicken, and their soups (Egg Drop and Hot and Sour) are the best they’ve ever been! Also, I love that I can order one of whatever appetizer they have! My favorites are the wings, Vietnamese egg rolls, and Crab Rangoon! Be sure to try the spicy Nuoc Mam with the egg rolls! The prices are great for people like me on a dining budget, and they are located in the well-maintained Menard’s parking lot on Hickman Ave in Clive! Super easy to find and get to! They also do quite a bit for the community! Just recently they served lunches to all of the hungry staff members at Hoover High and Meredith Middle School! They really do know how to Rok the Wok! Give’em a try, and I guarantee you it’ll “hit the spot!”“

Unfortunately that is our bad we thought it closed an hour later.
Regardless Heith let us know they would be closing soon but that he would keep it open for us to eat! He made us new food to put on the buffet & served us. His energy was extremely welcoming, we really appreciated him letting up stay to dine after they closed & being very accommodating.“

“Manager Ryan is a mensch! ?? We actually had a great experience despite/because of a problem. There was an issue with our delivery not getting to us on time, we called to check on it, and the manager, Ryan, went above and beyond, totally out of his way, to apologize and make it right (even though the situation was pretty much out of his control). We really appreciated the way it was handled and how Ryan clearly cared about doing things well. Will definitely order here again!“

“Food prepped and cooked properly. Delivered in a timely fashion. The Buffalo sauce wings were... not very well covered in sauce. The bbq and bbq chipotle(?) were fine. Whatever. Broke out some Hot Ones sauce and some Devil's Spit. Just fine. 5 stars.
Vegetarian options: Veggie stuff. Also tasty. Can confirm.
Parking: 6-10 spots.
Wheelchair accessibility: Standard concrete ramp instead of curb. Just fine.“

“This was some of the best food I’ve had in months. The chicken tenders are so moist and flavorful. The batter mixture and the softness of the waffle is as good as it gets. I’ve had the classic chicken and waffles pairing before but never done so well. Arguably the best cornbread I’ve had in my life also. I cannot ~wait~ to come back and to put everyone onto this place.“

“I placed an order online, I came in to pick it up and wasn't happy with my calzone bites. The manager refunded my money. The money that was refunded to my account didn't match what my online receipt said it should be. Rather than argue with me about it, the manager just refunded my whole order, which is NOT what my goal was. He even made me brand new calzone bites. I did try to pay him the money owed, but he wouldn't take it. I sincerely think this manager genuinely just wants to see his customers happy. I was having a crappy day and all I wanted to do was go home and spend my husbands birthday with him with dinner with my family. This manager didn't know exactly what I was going through but he could clearly see there was something wrong and decided to help.“

“This was the fastest delivery and order fulfillment I’ve ever had in the many years of using any pizza delivery service. It was maybe 15 minutes total!? Chris handled the delivery with friendliness and professionalism. The pizza was so fresh and delicious! It was pipping hot since it was baked and delivered so quickly. The team that handled our family's Friday pizza night tonight was beyond impressive. We felt immensely taken care of due to the quick and friendly service we received today from your team. “My boyfriend and I ordered pizza through the Pizza Hut online app with my saved address information that matched what Pizza Hut had on file for my order, DoorDash picked up our order but didn't deliver. Claiming that we provided the wrong address. After almost an hour and a half of waiting and trying to sort it out with the Dasher, The dasher canceled our order. We decided to call Pizza Hut but there wasn't much they could do since it was more of a "DoorDash problem" BUT Jamie The store manager of this location went above and beyond for us. They had already turned their ovens off and they still decided to come through and make our pizza and have it delivered in 10 minutes“

“We have always received perfect pizzas from this location, but this time our large supreme pizza was severely undercooked. Must have been an issue with the oven today. We threw away the first pizza and re-ordered a thin crust pizza thinking that would be cooked properly. We ended up having to bake that for 6 minutes at 450 degrees at home to finish the crust. Strange, as I stated this location has been great in the past“

Thankful to have a PJs up in Grimes. Pizzas are promptly and accurately made to order and are delicious. Customer service is also top notch with employees like Mason who go above and beyond providing excellent customer service!
