Honestly super disappointed. The location has moved across the street, and my husband spoke very highly of it. The poor review was on the service alone. It started out incredible, as she was super bubbly & then after we ordered our food we didn't see her again. Our server was inattentive, our food was delivered & she checked in 20 minutes later - in which, I had already found a host on my way to the restroom to grab our missing items from our order. We also wanted to reorder drinks & were able to do so then. We could see our server at the bar on her phone & chatting to whom I would assume are regulars. They were on boarding new people & it seemed to take the entire staff to do so. We were a booth over & had to grab a host to get any assistance/checked in on. The food was fine (my steak was actually some of the best I have ever had), since missing a ton of items (sour cream, pico, salsa, queso & chips reorder.) By the time we were settling into our meal most of it had cooled down. Upon saying we were ready to check out - I could tell we had irritated her, as we told her we were ready to checkout & she appeared 10 minutes later with our check. Biggest part of this frustration. It was dead with maybe one other table in the dining area.

This eatery is excellent. I really appreciated it and adored it. The staff is fantastic, and you never need to flag anyone down because they are always checking up on you . Elite food was served. I had a great time here and would definitely return. a well-designed kids menu, as well as another area where children may place orders with good portion sizes and kind, hospitable menus and service.

Margaritas were great! Coming from Texas we know good Margaritas. Salsa had a little too much garlic, but still good. They give you a generous portion of food. We'll come back again next time we come through.

1st time here. Complementary chips, salsa n queso. Chips were basic but queso n salsa were fantastic. Salsa had perfect for me the right amount of heat. Carbonara de res was wonderful with tender beef, onions and peppers. Lettuce and quac to top off in nicely heated flour tortillas. Best was the margarita with mango flavor.

Wish I could have tried this new location, we liked the food at the last location. Tried to eat dinner here around 7pm on the Wednesday before thanksgiving, knowing it was busy and fully expecting a wait. Husband and I put in our name for the wait, just behind a man and his son. A party of 4 came in after us and were promptly seated. The man ahead of us asked why they were seated before us, and the host told him they were only seating larger parties in the dining room, all parties of 2 were being seated at high tops by the bar. I’m not sure if this is a restaurant policy, but it’s not a good one. The reason we left, aside from not wanting to eat at a high top, was the host was bad mouthing the guy who had asked about the seating. The customer hadn’t been rude, but he had told the host that their policy didn’t make sense. When we heard him talking about another customer loudly enough for any of the customers waiting for tables to hear, we decided we didn’t want to eat there anymore. Again, we liked the food at the last location, but if you are going to treat couples like they are less important than larger parties, we probably won’t come back. Managers, Please take the opportunity to train your hosts about what is appropriate behavior, it was extremely off putting and unprofessional.

Absolutely amazing! The most tender steak I have had at a Mexican restaurant. The margaritas are really great! The fact that they give you the first queso serving for free with your chips and salsa is wonderful and delicious! Will definitely be back!!

I saw the reviews for this place and a lot of them said it was really good. So my wife and I went there for lunch today and it was delicious. Forgot to take pictures of the food but we got the Plato El Gordo to start, which is quite large and could probably be a meal on its own. I ordered a Burrito Verde and she had a Chipotle Burrito. Both were excellent. I was expecting the chipotle to be spicy but it was very mild and a little sweet. Incredible flavor. Our waitress was wonderful, very polite and attentive. We will definitely be going back again and will probably bring some friends too.Vegetarian options: They had a whole section dedicated to vegetarian friendly dishes on their menu.

We got take out at around 9 PM. We ordered the Hacienda Vieja Molcajete with rice and black beans. They forgot the flour tortillas with our order. Use the sauce for this meal as a sauce on the side or just add a little. They give you a ton of sauce, don’t dump it all in, it gets too soupy. The meat was prepared really well and the flavor was good.We also ordered the Enchiladas Espinaca with black beans and rice. The flavor was great and there were plenty of veggies. They filling dish despite it being veggies. The salsa was a soupy consistency and was too spicy for me.We will definitely be ordering from here again.

I ordered the seafood enchiladas. It was made with canned tuna.... I couldn't believe it. It smelled worse than my cat's food. The queso was cheese flavored water. The salsa was tomato juice and onion. Never going back.

Their margaritas have won best in the state several years in a row. Stop by to see why! Jorge and Oz are co-owners, they are both good guys but Jorge is something else. He's an amazing person, always working hard, and he remembered me after years of absence. This place is welcoming and full of great workers. One of my favorite restaurants in the world. I've been to restaurants in 20+ countries around the globe, but this place sticks in my mind. Whenever I'm in Des Moines I can't miss the chance to visit Jorge. Swing on by, you will enjoy the food, drinks, staff, and you may even make a few friends from the other diners! 100000%. Keep up the good work!

This was our first time here and let me just say… their food is absolutely DELICIOUS!! When you come in you get chips salsa AND QUESO. The staff here are all very kind and attentive. They even brought out our kids food as soon as it was Dane without me asking them to. We will for sure become here again and I suggest you give it a try as well.

Chorizo was burnt on all 4 of our meals. Mentioned it to waitress, she asked if we wanted a new one. She took 2 plates away and only brought back one, burnt again. Charged us for all 4 meals. No apologies. Place was busy so must be a popular place. Expensive meal of rice and beans. Quesadilla was good that our daughter had.

Took 12 minutes to get our drinks, 44 minutes to get our food. The restaurant was hot. AC not working maybe. My tortilla shells where rock hard., and the taco was very greasy. Other then that, it was about how you would expect.

stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday. we tried to go to 2 places previously. this appears to be the only place open for lunch that day. it was packed. we got a booth. our server was very pleasant and seemed to know exactly what we needed before we could ask for it. food was good. I had chicken cream something. it was good but could have used a little spice in I. mom enjoyed her shrimp taco.
