Unique N.E. Iowa experience. Reminded me a bit of a 20's speak easy. Lights were off on the street and the big antique wood door was open just a crack. Walk through a narrow, dark hallway to the back where a set of steep stairs lead you down into a stone cellar with picnic bench seating and a tiny bar serving only German beers. Conversation was lively and friendly. Check before you go, its seasonal and occupancy is 50 some.

Extremely cool cellar bar extremely nice and pretty bartender/owner extremely large and varied selection of all German beers and the bartender is extremely knowledgeable about all of them couldn't think of a cooler place to drink German beers

This is the coolest place! Never would have expected to find a gem like this in a small town in Iowa. Absolutely gorgeous basement bar with stone arches, just dripping with old world charm. And so many German beers that I haven't had since I was actually in Bavaria. This is a must when you're in the area!

Still awesome! My wife and I were (so I believe) the first customers served when it opened Sept 2022. I wear that badge proudly if true. ?Came back a year later. Great selection of German beers, some hard to find varieties. Beautiful rooms with cool decor and old German beer hall tables. Pretzels available for sale and free popcorn. And don't forget to check out the bottle openers! A must! ?
