We love the atmosphere here, but our service was sub-par. Dinner took us well over 90 minutes and some of our group was done eating before others even got their meals. We ordered drinks twice before any food was served, and several things were forgotten. We had to find the waitress to ask about our food, and she brought it right away but I was cold, so it had clearly been prepared much earlier. One burger was charred on the bottom, a soup was omitted, and the list goes on.The saving grace was that the drinks and appetizers were great and we still had a good time. We just plan to go elsewhere for future dinners.
Great food and great service! The wait staff was so welcoming upon our entrance and were great through our whole visit. The food was great, drinks were great, and the desserts were fantastic as well. Will definitely make a trip back to Harlan just to come back here.
We visit Harlan 3-4 times a year to see wife's mother. This has become a routine part of our visit. Friendly service and expansive menu. I haven't been disappointed by anything. Most recent visit I tried country fried steak ... as good as any I've had in my native state of Texas. Mother-in-law likes their pie, especially peanut butter.
Always have an excellent tasting meal here. Just wish the prime rib was a little more meat vs fat though. Still tasty ?
We stopped here as Victoria Station was the 2021 winner of the Iowa pork producers best tenderloin award. The tenderloin is definitely the highlight of the menu. It was very good and I would recommend sticking with that. My wife and daughter ordered the steak and pasta which were just okay.
I had a wonderful experience. I had my stepdaughters wedding catered through them. Even though they said they dont do catering often, they did a great job. The food was very fresh and tasted delicious. Barely any leftovers. So I took that as a good sign. Very timely and professional. I would willingly drive the hour I live from them to try thier dine in. Thank you for making my stepdaughters day.
Food was amazing, server was great, and the building is really cool in an old train depot. We shared the appetizer sampler with fried banana peppers, stuffed mushrooms and stuffed jalapenos. All were unique and delicious. We all got the tenderloin and it was probably the best one I've ever had (we love trying them all over). Breading was perfect, very juicy, and good size. Served with garlic aioli was a nice twist and we got it on Texas toast which was great. Highly recommend, will have to stop again to try other things on the menu!
Traveling from DesMoines to Omaha and had to have a pork tenderloin sandwich. Well worth the detour. The food was outstanding and lots of variety for everyone in the party. Service was great and clearly had the personal touch. Would have gone back, but they are closed on Monday when I returned to DesMoines.
Great service. Large salad has cheese which isn't mentioned on the menu but easily moved aside if needed. Some in our group had the tenderloin sandwich (2021 Iowa's best) and rated it highly.
We held our dress rehearsal here on 9/29/22 as our wedding was in Shelby. We had around 50 people (even though space was tight) and every single person raved about the food! The wait staff was amazing and so patient as our guests were running around trying to talk to people they haven’t seen in a long time during serving. The owners are such sweet people and were so great to work with for our event. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who’s getting married at the venue in Shelby—but also recommend for any occasion as the food was SO GOOD!

Located in an old railroad station, it was a Blast from the past. With a large menu to choose from, you'll have know problem finding something delicious. I had to try their Tenderloin, it was voted BEST in Iowa for 2021. I have to say it's one of my top 10!!Thick and juicy just like you make at home, Delicious! Well worth the trip.
Here with a very large group and we had a good time. Simplified menu was great. Breaded pork looked wonderful but did not order it. ONION RINGS TO DIE FOR.They even have a full bar.We would return.
Pros-It's okay, but not great. It's a local small family business located in an area that doesn't have very many quality steakhouse type restaurant options, so it's convenient for saving a trip to the city.Cons-I really want to like this place, but every time I've tried, they do something that sets off my negative experience meter.Such as wrong to go orders, steaks cooked wrong, small portions, less than satisfactory service, etc.Hopefully my next visit is better.
Was not worth the wait…. My husband ordered a hamburger, I ordered a fish sandwich, we waited over an hour to get our food. The food was fine, nothing extraordinary. The thing is, it would have been nice if someone would just have communicated with us that our food would be taking an extra long time.
The food is really good. The servers are very friendly and attentive. The seating has been remodeled since I last visited there (which might indicate how long it has been) to include booths as well as tables. A very pleasant dining experience!
