Today lunch was far from there best, my sandwich was half the meat, the ff was hard greasy, the salad was off I really like it here, but not today. The salad was making sick. So I did not finish it. They gave me a less then a half cup of honey mustard I ask for more and little bit more than the first. 2 oz cup. I felt like they didn't want to part with it. This is a honest review. I will be back

A lot worse than expected. The coffee was good and the service is also good. I regret spending $14 on my meal. I thought about saying something because it was so bad I was worried they used expired ingredients or something. I can’t recommend the quiche to anyone but my enemies. I’m really surprised because usually I live off of my own subpar cooking and I’m not picky. They served it with a wheat cake which probably wasn’t terrible but since I’m not a growing boy during the Great Depression it wasn’t exactly to my taste. I’ve never been served food that I won’t eat before having breakfast here. I am very, very surprised. Luckily they served it with a cute little orange to cleanse my palate.

Absolutely fantastic meal at Java River Café & Bakery!

I stopped in and tried the meatloaf burger with the homemade ketchup glaze, along with their homemade tomato basil tortellini soup, and both were incredible. The burger was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with flavor — true comfort food done right. Chose to go with no bun. Homemade broccoli salad was the perfect side dish as well. The soup tasted fresh and homemade, rich with basil and creamy tomato goodness, and the tortellini added a perfect touch. Truly embraced the farm to table taste I look for in cooking and restaurants.

An employee then had me try their best selling cookie. A homemade CHOCOLATE CHIP with BANANA cookie. Instantly, made me feel like my mom’s banana bread, but in cookie form. Highly recommend this to everyone.

The café itself has such a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and attentive. You can really tell they put care into every dish and every detail. I’ll definitely be coming back — this place is a gem in Keokuk!

Best breakfast and coffee in town! Lunch is fabulous, and take and bakes for dinner are always a hit. So thankful to have this restaurant in Keokuk.

Broccoli salad was super tasty. Sandwich was good but not anything spectacular, a Mother's Day special. I'm not a fan of sweetness in main entrees. Cutest women's bathroom I've seen in a very long time. Counter service was good. The young man busboy was great and checked on me at my table. The drink was a sugar free Spring seltzer. $17
