If you are looking for authentic Mexican food I recommend this place. I recommend sitting down. You’ll need time to savor the flavors and freshness of the food. There was a very little time waiting for the food nor a wait in line.

Chaparral Los Tapatios is the first truck stop Mexican restaurant that I've encountered. The restaurant has seating for hundreds and we were the only customers at the time. Service was excellent. The food was good. Prices were moderate.

Los Tapatios was recommended by the owner of the motel we stayed at as there were only two Mexican restaurants in Keokuk. The only parking was on the main street in front, fortunately there was one spot there. When we got the menus, it looked like a good selection. Chips and salsa was brought right away but refills were not free. I ordered a combination plate that had a beef taco, beef burrito and beef enchilada. Rice and beans did not come with this selection. My wife ordered chicken fajitas which did come with rice and beans and she requested corn tortillas instead of flour. When the food came, My taco was a preformed store bought shell with ground beef, a small enchilada with ground beef and the burrito had ground beef in it. The burrito was about the size of a roll of quarters and the enchilada about the size of a roll of pennies, all on a large hot plate that made the severing size look tiny. My wife's chicken fajitas were lightly seasoned and seemed to have a lot of oil on the platter. The rice and beans were good. If you like non-authentic Mexican food, you might like this but we didn't and wouldn't go back again.
