Went for the 1st time recently for a food pick up. The food was SO good. All of the staff was extremely friendly and the atmosphere of the place was really nice. Can't wait to go back!

We had dinner for two and it was a 5-star experience. Charming historic atmosphere, outstanding homestyle cooking, and great service for a reasonable price. The stuffed chicken special and chili mac bowl were both excellent with generous portions. We bought a half dozen homemade cookies for takeout which were delicious. This is a destination eatery offering customers a slice of Americana.

We were driving through and stopped at an odd hour (10:30 am). Lunch starts at 11 on weekdays so we got breakfast sandwiches, which were incredible. The pumpkin bar was also fantastic. Located in a very cool old building which is nicely renovated and very clean. We will be finding a reason to come back through for lunch or dinner!

Ate there for the 1st time, had the Old Stoner Burger n Fries plus Fried Ravioli. Was an excellent meal. Will definitely be back.

So, I am from here, but have lived in CA for the last 25+ years. My family all lives here and I come back quite a bit. My mom lives in La Porte City. We came for dinner Wed. Evening. Fries, tenderloin, wings, chicken sand, onion rings were all yum! I believe that this has been open for about 1 month and the waitresses are new and learning. I owned a restaurant for 20+ years and have worked in one even longer. So, quick tips: 1. Always clear anything from a table that is finished 2. Refill drinks and check on guests frequently 3. Bring silverware out with menus, or at least with drinks 4. Plates with appetizers 5. Take check to table…kinda silly going up to register to pay. Too much activity up there with guests Also, place the “specials” sign so you see it when you enter. Not behind the counter. Music is needed!!!! And, please make sure that there are no flies in the dessert case.
I loved the look of this restaurant and want it to remain going. Best wishes. We will be here another week and will try out breakfast.
