Lunch Special hot beef sandwich with yummy carrots. I'm confident that everything is homemade, even the bread. Roast beef is pulled apart rather than sliced. Potatoes are mashed, lumpy, with red skins - just the way I love them. Cake is a homemade yellow with "german" frosting.

Served on the same china I have in my cupboard.

One of the best HB sandwiches I've had in a long time.

Went there with my dad around 11:30 a.m. on a Tuesday. We were welcomed right away by a very nice lady with a beautiful smile. The daily special was chipped beef gravy over biscuits, with peas, and pie for $8 (or a 1/2 order for $6.75). We decided to order sandwich platters off the menu. We didn't have to wait very long for our food, but the time went by even faster as we chuckled over the funny wall plaques and cute decor. My breaded tenderloin was delicious and could have easily filled two of their homemade sandwich buns! My dad was equally pleased with his BBQ beef sandwich. I did not care much for the coleslaw, but that's on me. Their recipe uses celery seed and is a little on the sweet side. That's okay, next time I'll get extra fries instead. They were crispy and perfectly seasoned! My dad snagged their last slice of cherry pie, which, according to him, was the best he's ever had. (I was too full for any dessert.)The coffee was good, but as silly as it seems, I LOVE the coffee cups there. They are big!Our total for two sandwich platters, two bottomless coffees, and a slice of pie came to a little under $29.00.
