So a lot has changed since VJ took over still not perfect but has definitely gotten better, keep ya head up vj and going strong will recommend over Northside

Ok so our team Member went there for a band as we are a media service it's what we do, well the night we went he was having free food, nice touch. In the process of about 20 minutes our Head team Member watch the bartender give away free drinks 1. 2 vj then pulled our owner in the kitchen basically said that our team was not welcome unless we buy something hint there is he was basically getting free advertising. Next the intoxicated guests were treating to fight us saying we had not authority to film the band, ummm we are 100% allowed to film the bands it was the reason we were there as all but one of our members were wearing a press tag mind you he is new Member all we are saying is pick and choose be careful and make sure if you plan to take photos of your group make sure you have some witness everything, also VJ is not a professional DJ but tries to not to mention promoting an event not doing it and wonder why 2 people show up

I stopped in one evening to have a couple of drinks. The bar is clean and looks very nice. I wish I could say I had a great time but the red headed bartender that was working seemed absolutely useless. She saw me come in and take a seat at the bar but instead of coming to wait on me she sat down and made someone else who was working in the kitchen take my order. After having a few drinks and talking with the other customers there I decided to order some food. When I asked the bartender with the red hair if I could see a menu she looked at me like I was speaking a different language. I asked if the kitchen was still open and then the light bulb turned on. She very rudely told me she wasn’t cooking and walked away. It was only about 8:30 PM so I asked some of the other people if there was a reason she wasn’t going to cook and they said she is just lazy. I had a good time here, if only the owner could hire someone a little more competent and friendly it would have been even better. I will be stopping by again and hopefully there will be a different bartender when I do.

We stopped in last night to get some food. We used to love coming here for some great food and amazing people but last night was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The staff was slow and seemed confused that we didn’t want alcohol. The food we did order was overcooked to the point of almost being burnt. The sour cream that came with it tasted like it was spoiled. One of the bartenders was extremely rude, racist and was so disrespectful to my boyfriend. She didn’t want to wait on us and ignored us most of the night. She kept saying she was going to “kick his a*** for things he wasn’t even a part of. The owner also thought it was a good idea to turn his DJ equipment on and play music that was way too loud. We weren’t the only ones complaining about it. And if after reading this you still decide to go make sure you sit at the bar. If you sit at a table expect to be ignored and wait on yourself. The bartenders only come out from behind the bar if they absolutely have to. Instead try going to Hillside, Eagles club, Northside or make the 10 minute trip to the Depot in Hopkinton IA

if i could leave a negative star review i would. for starters the new owner VJ is EXTREMELY disrespectful, racist, cocky, and overall just isn’t a good person.
selling alcoholic beverages in the bar and the liquor store next door to underaged kids is frowned upon. surprised he hasn’t gotten shut down yet…might want to watch out for that VJ.
for anyone visiting Monticello iowa, i’d recommend you stay far away from this horrible place, and take your business elsewhere. here, i’ll give you guys some suggestions.

Had a great time. Service was great. I felt for the bartender as she was solo and the crowd kept growing! Drinks made great. Alot better than previous owners... had a dj that only payed country, which was a little bummer that he wouldn't mix it up just a little. Location has been updated and cleaned.
