Best breaded pork tenderloins I've ever had. The view of the river isn't bad either

Small and very local, but a great place to visit and eat. Their specialty is a tenderloin sandwich which we all had and enjoyed. The highlight for us however was their skunk fries appetizer.. Outside seating is available.

We stopped here or lunch after a recommendation from a family member. We split a tenderloin and an order of onion rings. One half a tenderloin is plenty for anyone and was just ok. Something tasted different from other tenderloins we’ve had but I can’t explain it. The meat tasted mushy to me. The bun was stale and that didn’t help. The onion rings were ok but brought out way before the sandwich and wasn’t worth the $7 for the order. It’s something to see but we won’t go back.

Quaint little off the road café just outside of Mount Pleasant Iowa. Be prepared for very rustic. We had the mushroom Swiss burger which was absolutely delicious. Best one we’ve ever had.

Read great reviews about the River Rock Cafe. Ambiance was great as we sat next to fireplace. We saw other meals delivered and wow, the portions were large. Huge!! So, the tenderloin was previously one of “Iowa’s best”. My wife ordered the “naked” loin and I ordered the breaded loin. We each ordered a side of hash browns. Our loins came on a platter, thick, juicy, and wonderful taste. Then the hash browns, another platter, crisp and with ample onions. The hash browns were the sum of two good sized potatoes. Place was packed on a Friday evening. As we paid, a display of fresh baked cookies and cakes caught our eye. We purchased 2 and they were excellent

Making our way north on 218, we found ourselves hungry about the time we were near Mt. Pleasant. We found the River Rock Cafe at some site on our phone and map quested directions to it. Arriving at the combination mobile home/quonset hut in the middle of nowhere caught our attention! A number of vehicles were in the "parking lot" (gravel drive) so we at least knew we were at the right place. Friendly service with quite the selection of burgers awaited us inside. The "decor" is a cross between a garage sale and an elderly relatives kitchen..........and being a small town Iowan, I mean that warmly! Our burgers were cooked nicely and accompanied by a side of fries. Didn't find that the burger itself had much taste to it aside from the extras that were in it, a.k.a green olives, bacon, etc. Fries were good. Thought the price out the door for two quarter pounders, fries and a coke was a little high! $24 The experience brought a smile to our face but, we won't be returning.

Drove right past it. Small in size but big in flavor. Fun atmosphere and good food. Try the tenderloin.

there is basically NO where to eat breakfast, other than fast foods, in the town of Mt. Pleasant. This is our 2nd time here and both times the breakfast was awful How one can ruin breakfast is beyond me...We asked for a waffle well done...was soggy, asked for french toast cooked in the middle NOT soggy...was burnt! Bacon was re heated and the owner/cook handled it in his hands!!!! Won't make the mistake a 3rd time I can assure you..Outside is cute and near a lake.

This is a small (8 tables), basic, rustic, "down-home" little place. The location is somewhat remote, adjacent to a state park. The last 3/8 mile is a dirt road. The food and service were excellent, prices reasonable. Note that they stop serving breakfast at 10:30, at least on Saturdays. If you're coming in from the north down Rt 218, note that as of late Sep 2019, Franklin St.is blocked by construction. I made a left to loop around the construction, adds about 2 miles.

Tenderloin heaven! We pulled up and weren’t sure we had the right place... walked in anyway! We were obviously the only patrons from out of town.... but we fit right in and made friends. Short jaunt from the highway on the river! Yum.
