You could say we four traveled from Minneapolis and Milwaukee just to meet for lunch at The Plantiful Pantry in Mount Vernon, IA. It turns out, that was indeed a major highlight of our trip! Here's hoping this airy, immaculate, unique "good-health-based" dining venue will be found by many more like us for a long time! We all ordered the Wild Rice Mushroom Stew and were ready to pitch our tents. There are bazillions of midwest recipes involving wild rice and mushrooms, but THIS particular stew/soup was in a class of its own. Completely plant-sourced and laced with such rich and wonderful flavor that it had us all playing the guessing game: "What's IN this??" Perfect consistency, lovely rich color, and the ideal lunch on a cool fall day. The place is well-lit, tables solid and spacious and adorned with fresh fall flowers, self-serve iced water casks fruit-and-herb laced, and there was an air of genuine positive energy. We found a treasure during our brief time in Mount Vernon, and we hope it's there for your exploring for a very long time. Thank you Mariah and crew for a perfect experience! This is my favorite restaurant in the Cedar Rapids area. I haven’t had a single thing that I haven’t liked. My favorites so far have been the macaroni, nachos, tempeh toast, heirloom tomato toast and the honey mustard chicken salad. Everything is so good and fresh! I love that they have items to go also since I love to grab some items for the week.

This place is a hidden gem. If you have allergy this place is wonderful. I often struggle to find food that is dairy and gluten free.
The owner was so accommodating to helping me identify what could be gluten free and even made some recommendations.
I had the best food here on my trip to Mount Vernon. I had the Buffalo Mac and cheese (had a good slice and so cheese for being dairy free), green chili (this was wonderful as it was light with amazing depth. The cashew crema on top add a wonderful bite of freshness to balance the spice). I also had the energy bites and they were wonderful dessert/snack on the go.
If you are headed in the vacinity of Mount Vernon please head to this restaurant- truly amazing.

Bruschetta toast is outstanding as is the tomato toast & avocado toast. The veggie fried rice is also a favorite. I could eat here every day & not get tired of it since the menu changes week to week.

I love this restaurant! Everything tastes so good and I appreciate the convenient grab-n-go cooler. The ingredients are so fresh that the items I buy are still good many days later. The menu changes with new, interesting, yummy items joining their popular regular items. Great service, too!

This is such a cute little restaurant on the main thoroughfare in Mt. Vernon. They have both fresh food, as well as grab-and-go items. (It seems like there tend to be more pre-packaged items than freshly made.) When I visited, they were making delicious nachos with refried beans, vegan cheese sauce, and walnut taco meat. So good! And the space is airy and cozy. Great for hanging out!

What luck, traveling through Mount Vernon, and saw The Plantiful Pantry! My husband took a drive around the block to give me time to quickly Google search. We were delighted to find a plant-based cafe offering grab and go items! The flavors of the Mexican Street taco bowl danced in my mouth. My husband said that his Tuscan wrap was the best wrap he has ever had. The Compost Cookie energy bites are fantastic! The menu had wonderful items for dine in as well. I highly recommend for everyone, whether you are plant-based/vegan or not, their food will not disappoint!

Wonderful experience! Walked in and immediately noticed clean, neat, bright and comfortable. There’s a Grab & Go and/or seating. We did both! I grabbed a delicious looking chia pudding and a pea salad. At our table I ordered several things, one was a delicious Dill Pickle Soup! We shared an Avacado Toast that was amazing! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!
