Maxwell's on the River is a great place to meet friends for lunch. The river view is beautiful and the interior decor is elegant. I had the Caesar Salad with grilled shrimp. It was delicious. Others loved the Brussels sprouts, fish tacos, etc. This is my favorite restaurant in Muscatine.
I had lunch at Maxwell’s on the River. I sat the very beautiful dining room and we had a delightful lunch! The service was excellent.
Minus baseball season in the conjoined hotel lobby/restaurant everything was excellent, the food, ambience, and service were all 5 star

The shrimp scampi had the tails left on. Does this annoy anyone else when a restaurant does this to shrimp that isn't intended to be eaten with your hands like shrimp cocktail?
Nice sit down next to the hotel lobby. We did the brunch menue. The breakfast burger was delicious. But the chicken fried stake wasn't that great and the bloody marry was overpriced for vodka and store bought bloody mary mix.

I loved this hotel. My first time to Iowa! I was staying for several days for a family wedding being held at the Merrill. I loved everything thing about this hotel! Beautiful rooms, clean and so comfortable. The staff were amazing and friendly! The restaurant was delicious and you could do breakfast, lunch, and dinner with great service! The ballroom on the 6th floor with a view of the Mississippi river and outside balcony with comfortable seating was the perfect venue so beautiful and peaceful! Dinner was delicious! I can't wait to come back and stay again!!!

Fantastic food every visit.
Wonderful, relaxed atmosphere right on the riverfront. Most nights have live music. Typical bar food and typical but plentiful types of beer on top with many different types of brews! Local and otherwise.

Easily the best spot in town for a date night 🤍 Even with just drinks or appetizers, the attention to detail in presentation and quality is unmatched!
Oh my goodness those brussel sprouts are the best I've ever had!

The brunch menu had a reasonable number of choices, without being overwhelming. Our food was excellent, and the cheesecake was outstanding. The homemade sangria was a nice touch. The service was also excellent; friendly, attentive and with good timing. It was nice to be able to sit and look out over the river too. The restaurant is attached to the main hotel lobby, but the ambience is nice and you can carry on a conversation without difficulty. Definitely one of the standouts in town.
Arrived here for supper. We were seated right away. Staff was attentive and friendly. Drinks, appetizer, and entrée came out in a timely manner and were excellent. A long walk to the clean restroom.
(Restaurant is basically in the hotel lobby, and the restrooms are near the pool.)
It's a bit pricey but take your date.
We've been to Maxwell's several times and were very pleased. Last night was the last time. Our server was slow and inattentive. even though she was not busy (she was standing at bar). We were seated and given drink list and sat for 10 minutes before she came for our order. Repeated requests for table service, salt and pepper. Salad very difficult to eat as it was in tiny pieces of lettuce, think dime sized. Pork chop ordered was requested to be cooked the least amount possible and was actually very dry and overcooked. The carrots side dish had peanuts sprinkled on them. I don't know how the chef expected you to eat them when you only have a fork and knife! The $300 would have been better spent elsewhere.
