We took our mom for her birthday breakfast at Frannie's Cafe in Onawa and we are so glad we did! The restaurant was so cozy and clean well laid out. The service was super good! Our waitress was so sweet and attentive and our food came very quickly! The food was absolutely delicious! I got chicken fried steak and it’s the best I’ve had since moving here a few years ago! And I’m so excited to come back they serve breakfast and lunch ALL DAY!

I was on the lookout for a local type cafe / diner on my marathon drive and spotted Frannies on a road sign so I took the exit… a bit of a gamble as I was towing a trailer. Easy to find in town and plenty of parking options, I could have parked a big rig close by. Service was on point, as was the food. A bit of controversy as one set of locals was sat at the other set of locals regular table, but pleasantries were exchanged and all agreed one seat over wasn’t a big deal. I love places like this and was trying to avoid chains this entire trip, so I’m glad I spotted the sign! This is such a wonderful country to roadtrip across and local food is always local community, and that my friends is what always made America great.
