This gem of a bar & grill humbled me fast...I was in full-blown mocking mode as I took in the simple storefront building shadowed between two monolithic feed mills. I smiled condescendingly at the ancient payphone bolted to the wall, carefully navigated the rather steep ramp to get to the dining area, snorted derisively when we were asked if we had reservations, arrogantly edited the generous menu...and then...stopped laughing. $2 for a frozen mug of root beer? The rack of ribs should have arrived atop Fred Flintstone's car. Our waitress was informative, patient, helpful, and skilled at her job. This place is REAL. Unpretentious. No gimmicks. Just great food...served by friendly folks...shockingly affordable. It's as plain as the nose on your face...if you can get your nose out of the air or stop it from being out-of-joint...this is the place for you.

It's a small town restaurant. Good portion sizes for the money. Service is excellent. Waitress must have esp, she came by to ask how it was, when I didn't have food in my mouth. That hardly ever happens. I'll be going back.

BEST food in da world. Friendly staff and people. Amazing atmosphere, a very large parking lot. Tip ask for ranch seasoning on the cheese balls or fries because it is AMAZING.
Vegetarian options: Amazing salads but very few salads.
Parking: Tanks Bar & Grill is across the street from the Rudd, IA City Hall. Huge and amazing parking.
Kid-friendliness: There is a kids menu and there is a fish tank for kids to look at.

Best ribs in a 50 mile radius. Meaty, tender St, Louis cut ribs. These are not tiny, dry, baby back ribs, thank goodness. A full rack with 2 sides for less than $20. Full rack, no sides, costs a tad less. We called ahead for takeout. There is limited seating and some reservations are taken. It's a small town cafe/bar vibe. The staff is the friendliest--a shout out to Riley from "can you hear me now." If you're craving ribs, this is the place.
