Worth the drive just for the comfort factor. The fried chicken was crispy and generously portioned, and the pie situation is dangerous (I warned you). Cozy, old-school dining room with views over the hills. Everything tastes like it’s been made the same way for decades — and that’s a compliment.
If you are traveling the Great River Road on the Iowa side of the Mississippi River this is a must stop for the hunger traveler. This is a long owned family restaurant with a lot of history in Balltown Iowa, located in the rolling hills along the Mississippi River. The food, atmosphere and scenic drive is well worth the drive.
You have to go Sarurdays. They always have a prime rib with salad and soup. When I say the prime rib is the size of your plate it's no understatement. It is. And it's like a inch or more thick. HUGE!!! So good!!!
