Units did not have Wi Fi in the rooms. If you needed Wi Fi, you had to go to the registration office. That is not acceptable . Master bedroom and master bath were on different floors, that was strange. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Resort needs some major maintenance done. The roof was leaking in some of the activity room halls. Room was clean.
If you want to have the most determined and aggressive run around to your most reasonable request regarding your property, a cable left plugged into the TV then these people take the cake. Not one phone call returned and absolutely NIL action to assist us. Final comment to us was to just RELAX! How rude can they get. RCI need to investigate the standard and operation of this property. The photos you see on RCI site are not what they offer.
Very nice resort. Staff was friendly and accomodating. Our condo was older but very nice and clean. Grounds are great, a lot things to do right at the resort. Outdoor pools were clean and nice. The areas around Okiboji were alot of fun. Overall a great experience. Would definately go back.
I'd bet you can't sleep a week on their beds. We lasted two days. I would guess that linens, furnishings, mattresses, flooring, or appliances have been updated in the last 20-25 years. Things are just way below standards.
So sad! The only reason this resort doesn't deserve a rating of 1 is that it's a beautiful setting. So if you can stand 30 year old furnishings, including the rock hard 30 year old mattress, and an expansive lack of maintenance this resort may be for you. But know that you'll likely not be able to eat, get coffee or staples on property. Or, again, sleep through the evening on the rock hard bed. I'm not sure one should use the microwave in the unit we were in based upon its condition. You couldn't see through the glass so the seal had to be broken. We had grease on our towels and blankets. The carpet is filthy. The coffee pot was still dirty from the previous guests. There is no wi-fi available in units. You can try to access it in the dingy and depressing lobby. There was a DVD player but I can't attest to its functionality. Didn't think to bring DVDs - oh wait, I think I gave them all away. Then just know that management doesn't do anything considered to be accommodating. Marketing must be non-existent because there is nothing that makes you feel good or appreciated in their "rules". Be prepared to strip your own bed linens but leave the blankets and comforters for the next people to enjoy. Maybe those items get washed once a season if lucky. Put your used towels in a mesh bag and your linen in another. Put your dirty dishes in the dishwasher (of course - I get that) and run the dishwasher if they left you detergent and if the machine runs. Throw all your trash in the large dumpster down the lane. Don't request additional garbage bags, soap, or anything really. You get one of each for your entire stay. We managed to stay two nights of our week long reservation. So be prepared to try to find an alternative if you plan on some rest during your trip. As owners of this resort for nearly 25 years, paying huge maintenance fees year after year, I can't imagine its future short of ousting all directors, selling to a new investor, or perhaps shuttering and filing bankruptcy leaving us with nothing for our years of commitment and contributions for maintenance that just hasn't happened. So unfortunate! Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.
A stone’s throw gift shop had just the Okoboji souvenirs we were looking for at good prices. Good selection of sweatshirts and t-shirts and hats and other clothing and nice gifts, too. Glad we stopped in there while on vacation in the Lakes Area.
Our Time Share unit was in the basement with a window. It was a studio, sofa that makes into a bed, kitchen tabe that seats four, small refrigerator but has a freezer that the ice bucket would fit into. Small Stove with four burners and microwave, Bathroom sink is outside of the tub/shower and toilet area. Place to hang clothes. We could go to 4th floor and get ice out of ice Maker. There were washer and driers on the 2nd and 3rd floors. You pay a $1 to dry. No WIFI in room and you can use Lobby but very spotty. Studio bigger than most motel rooms.
The reservation we booked was not at all like the pictures. It was very disappointing, dirty and outdated. We do not recommend this place. When we asked the front desk about the unit we were assigned, they said the pictures never match the reservations. We canceled our reservation and drove back home. We do not recommend this place!
I stayed at Village West while visiting family in MN. The resort is very clean, the building, grounds, and rooms are very well maintained. It was nice to have a comfortable room to come back to in the evenings to have a bite to eat in the kitchen and catch a little TV if I wanted to. Rested very well in the room.
Location great. we were there prior to Memorial Day and outdoor pools had not opened yet. The indoor pool is huge but the jacuzzi wasn't working. We would return to this area. We played golf at several locations and mini golf.

Have been coming here for years due to family timeshare. Place hasn't been updated for 20+ years and is worn down. Beds are uncomfortable, pillows are like bricks and stained with drool marks, floors/carpet are marked up or stained, shower curtains are stained and moldy, wallpaper seams are loose, carpet is loose around wall edge, and more. Decor and furniture is cheap. At last visit, place was not cleaned well. Ceiling fan had so much dirt, it was growing over the sides, hairs were on bathroom sink, kitchen floor was dirty with leaves, etc. Only good part is the location with beach access and kid activities (pool, arcade, etc).
The hot tub was larger than expected. Check in was relatively easy. The clerk was able to answer questions. The layout of the room was a little weird. THe hot tub was not near the actual bathroom. The room had a partial kitchen.
The units were very roomy & Comfortable. The carpets need a good cleaning. Not clean at all. Better cleaning in the bathrooms is needed too. Shower curtains were not clean. No WI FI in the units was disappointing.
The staff was friendly, attentive. The resort is dated..we had a few issues microwave didnt work..some broken cabinets but they addressesd those. The lighting is poor but overall for what we needed, It worked. There is nice pool excercise room.game rooms for families.
I wish the kayak and boat rentals were open later than Labor Day. Really liked having several pool choices and that they weren't too busy. One of the burners on the stove didn't work and one was tipped so the oil or liquid always went to one side.
