I might be a little partial, but I’ve become a believer in Buchanan wines. I try to only drink local Iowa wines or small batch wines from other states. And Buchanan is right up there with my favorites. Especially Buggy Ride and Linda’s concord (which has a great story. If you see Linda you’ll have to be sure to ask :) )
This is a favorite winery to me and my friends...atmosphere is wonderful and everyone there is wonderful and make you feel very welcome!! The wine they make is yet the best by far of any winery we gone too!! But if you are planning to attend one of the venues you should call the day before to make sure that things are as scheduled...this past weekend was the 3rd time weve gone there for entertainment but to get there and it be cancelled for some reason ..This was such a let down after driving 2 and a half hours for my friends from out of state and me 40 min.....we love it there and always plan our girls get away around you...I get it things happen, but it would of been nice to have more of a heads up...we had this planned for 2 months and did not know it was cancled until we arrived and we were not the only guests that showed up dissapointed...none the less the wine was delicious as usual..just disapointed on the venue...more of a heads up would of been nice for us to reschedule or plan something else??
Best wine in Iowa! Lots of selections!
Mallory came from the apple orchards to serve their delicious wines. The vintner obviously knows how to get the best from the grape. We bought an unusual sparkling Red, a flavourful Catawa, and two others. The Buchanan home from 1886 is lovely. Definitely a must for wine connoisseurs.
Went here for my mother's suprise birthday party. Absolutely amazing experience. The live band made the night and the team who took care of us was amazing. Jess was fantastic bartender. Highly recommend this winery!
Visited from out of town and loved their wines! We tried a few and ended up purchasing the port, bubbly Brianna, and square dance. The area is beautiful and I imagine it would be fun on a night with live music! We will definitely come back whenever we're in Iowa.
Looked nice, need to update their hours online showed up at 3 on a Friday and they are closed from 2-4 weekdays.
If you have time this is a MUST! Coming from Chicago and traveling to wineries as a hobby this tips the list! Randy went above and beyond to explain the history and the wine making. The wine is the most unique we have ever tasted and the story of moving the home is mind blowing. Put this on the list if you are in the area!!
We stumbled upon this place by complete chance and we're already planning our next visit. It's an intimate setting with beautiful views, great wine, and a cool history.
great destination

We stumbled upon this place and we were pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed the intimate setting, beautiful views, great wine, and history the Buchanan House had to offer. Already planning our next trip here.
Beautiful and relaxing.
I visited on a Sunday afternoon May 2022. I wasn’t even sure they were open, but they were. I was the only person there. The day was nice, I wonder where everyone was at? The grounds around the tasting room and house are a mess with flower beds over taken by weeds. It was not nice or pretty to look at.Randy was very nice, I tried the only dry red they offered, Marquette Reserve, it was good.Atmosphere was not great, we have no need to return. You will have a little less than 1/2 mile on a gravel road.
Small, kind of hidden place, with a great view.
Relaxing atmosphere, large outdoor patio and also indoor area, Oh the variety of wines and quality. They have several award winning wines
