They seem to have gone downhill. We were there over the weekend for breakfast. I’m not typically one to complain, but we had several issues. My daughter’s sausage links were not cooked all the way through, my boyfriend’s bacon was terrible, our waitress was not good and the hollow handle of my knife had a small hole in it and when I went to cut my food water dripped out of the knife all over my food. So dirty dishwater all over my breakfast. I explained this to our waitress and I told her they should probably throw the knife away, which she did, but she did not seem bothered at all by the situation like it was no big deal. Needless to say we were very disappointed with our most recent visit and definitely was not worth the money.

I love coming here for the breakfast buffet on weekends. Service is great, and the gift shop has a great selection of Iowa memorabilia.

Dined here during Saturday Lunch Buffet. Four people $102 plus two small Pepsi (3.99ea)...wow. So, I feel compelled to leave this review as it was the worst breakfast/lunch buffet ever. It has been several years since we last dined there and it was good. Between the four of us we had the scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage links, some salad, a waffle thing with blueberries, taco casserole?, powder biscuit? and flour gravy?, and omelets. The omelets were good but the rest was not, scrambled eggs tasted strange as some of the other cooked items. The worst was the salad which my wife had and said it was good but when we got home it went right through her. I also got a gut ache a couple hours later and lasted several hours. My parents said they were fine with no gut issues. So, it must have been only a few different items that were contaminated? All in all I did expect a way better buffet both in quality of items, more selection and better food handling/preparation. In short, there are now four customers that will never return.

Machine Shed is one of our favorite places to gather with friends. They have large rooms for meeting, abundant service and a menu that doesn't stop. Our group of 40 comfortably fit in the smaller of the two large rooms - many more could fit if needed - and we had one of those rare times together well all remember for the rest of our lives. At the end we were offered a tractor ride... A perfect end to a perfect evening.

Stopped in on 11 two for lunch. Picture shows roles that I was served. Looked like they were bought from the store. Coleslaw tasted like something from the grocery store. Extremely disappointed with food service was slow. Third prime two years I was in the URBANDALE location, three strikes out I will not return.
